Because eventually in order to take advantage of stickier compound tires you need to be able to launch from a higher rpm without risk of bogging at the line.

I guess that makes sense but the development cost for the 3-5 people who probably even need it makes this highly unlikely to happen.

Would need a trans line lock kit which usually involves the valve body so yeah not gonna happen haha.

I got closer to my goal of 11's today. Mods are PPE headers, catless Joe Z exhaust, and RR Racing intake/tune combo. DA was +100ft and the car ran hard. Tires are Hankook Ventus K2's and I didn't even bother to air them down, though I did remove the spare tire and jack. Some negative DA air and I should achieve my goal.

Awesome stuff with a stickier R comp tire like hankook rs2 or Yokohama ad08r Bridgestone re71r you would be well on your way as you'd easily hook a 1.9s 60ft time

That's so awesome to know that with the RR racing package plus an exhaust the car is capable of hitting 11s. Since you have all the bolt ons and tune does the car feel faster on the street and freeway as the midrange power goes up quite a bit? I plan on doing the same mods as you but with the Hayward exhaust.

Just got done with my first drag session in the F and 13.1 @ 110 mph was my best time. Ran 3 consistent times like this. Car is stock besides RR tune with 255/40 all seasons in the rear. I thought I could dip into low 13s possibly high 12s. The F ran well but definitely needs a good 275 summer tire in the rear.

How do you guys launch? I would just wait for green and gun it, the one time I tried to hold the revs around 1k-1.5k rpm but spun all of first, I shouldn't have floored it.

Stock with just RR Tune? I'd say that's not bad at all. You could dip into high 12's. Drop rear tire pressures to 28psi and fronts to 34psi. Light spin in the rears to clean the rocks off, all traction controls off (long press on button), sports mode on, and floor it from a dead stop. That's how I launch, in Manual mode. I never tried brake torque from 1k or 1.5k rpms. Also, floor the gas at the last yellow, if you see the green light...you're already too late.

Yeah I didn't touch the front tire pressure, rears I dropped to 36. Next time I'll drop both of them. Since I'm tuned and redline is at 7200 should I be shifting right at 7200? I was shifting at 7k on my runs.

Hmmm...you dropped the rears to 36psi? So that means you were over inflated to begin with. Recommended PSI from factory is 36psi on all four corners. I'm surprised you're not complaining about wheel hop. At 36psi my wheel hop was bad off the line , not to mention wheel spin. Definitively drop them as recommended above. It's worth the try. Man that redline sounds like fun. I redline mine for sure, I'm not tuned but I would definitely make it bounce off the rev limiter...lol.

Baseline Dyno of my 12' IS-F:

370 WHP Run 2 and 357 TQ Run 3 were the best numbers.
Edit: Pull was in 6th gear on 91 Shell at European Auto Source in Anaheim, CA. About 80 degrees and 30% humidity.

Just installed the HPS Intake Elbow so will be heading back to the dyno to see what gains are to be had.

Question for you guys though:

If I do 3 pulls with just the elbow, let the motor cool down and then put an AFE or Tom's Filter in for another 3 runs - will gains be showed from the filter or do I have to drive 100 miles for ECU to calibrate?

Car #4. Best run of the day, while there was still plenty of vht on the track. Some of the later runs the tires would light off through the gears and I'd have to let off. 12.5s all day with a 12.4 mixed in as well.
Conditions are as follows:
  • Temp: 58F
  • Overcast and cloudy
  • Driver weight: 185lbs
  • Two ticks under half tank of gas
  • Tires: Bridgestone S04s
  • Manual sport mode
  • Traction control on
  • Full weight (spare and all)
  • Full tire pressure (lowering didn't help)
  • Relative DA: -22ft
  • Full bolt ons + rr tuned intake
I will say those Bridgestone don't like to bite too well on the strip (have about 10,000 miles on them). Had to stab the throttle a little lighter to get traction off the start; that's when I ran the 12.5s.
