Default IS350 rear wheels on IS-F fitment (Ready to race)

Well it looks like the only compatibility between the IS350 wheels and the IS-F is the Rear wheels from the IS350 fit the IS-F. JoeZ did some testing awhile back and I wanted to confirm as he said it has very tight clearances with the Caliper. Well I put on my drag racing setup and found some empty roads and did some test launching. Heat these R compounds up for a few seconds and the car just launches with very minimal wheel spin as opposed to the stock setup where the tires would just go up in smoke from a dead stop. Also did a weight comparison and my drag racing setup is 2lbs lighter per wheel/tire. 50lbs OEM 19's with Michelin vs 48lbs for the IS350 wheel and Kumho R compounds. The biggest improvement out of this setup or drag racing is the tire size. Reduced diameter will give me better gearing, which was noticeable on my test spins this morning. The car feels very snappy with excellent grip. Can't wait to try this setup out on the track.

I was wondering what was taking you so long to test fit those...

Glad everything worked out and I am looking forward to some track days in the near future

Yeah just been busy and with the heat and stuff I don't like to hang out in the garage too much. I'm very happy they fit and even happier that they are grippy enough to prevent total wheel spin on launches.

BTW..You coming out to the Chick fil-a tonight?

Looks hilarious with the small wheels but man, I bet it will do the trick!!!! I guess DR's on these would work well at the strip....

LOL yeah I agree it looks a bit funny with the smaller wheels in the back especially since they are a different color than the fronts. At least the wheels are all 2IS related. Traction is definitely a very effective mod for drag racing and with the damn near impossible launches out of this torque monster this should do the trick. I may hit the track tomorrow, but it's a slight chance right now.

It would be GREAT to see what you can do with STICKY rears at the track. Keep us updated.

Looks a little funny but if it gets the job done, then who cares

Would I be too optimistic thinking this car could go high 11's in weather similar to when you ran the 12.8?

LOL anything is possible, but 11's seems very very optimistic even with similar weather conditions as the 12.8 run in the IS350. I'm thinking that when it gets really cold I may have traction issues with the IS-F so i'd have to get some wider R compounds down the road.

I am for sure going to the track tomorrow along with Zexnos in his IS350. Should be fun!

Can't wait until I see your results!!!! I'm still holding out for colder weather, more engine break-in and TIME. I'm thinking that in September-November I'll be able to hit the track maybe a couple of times.

I see some wheels in your garage you have not tried yet. The ones from that bike that's dangerously hanging above your car hood. A no-go for us in California prone earthquake...

Well I'll start a new thread later today, but results were good and I have tons of video of my runs (mostly against Zexnos in his IS350). My best run today was 12.670@112.06. This was bone stock WITHOUT using my drag tires. Turns out that the drag tires won't work very well for the IS-F because the gearing changes such that I need an extra shift right before the finish line negating any benefits from the earlier acceleration advantages.
