Default Lexus IS-F Supercharger Coming Soon

Article taken from motivemag.com

"Sources within the Lexus sales network tell us it's in the works--a supercharger for the monstrous IS-F sedan. Not to be outdone by BMW or Mercedes-Benz, the 'charged Lexus should put out over 500 hp and dominate the nearest drag strip. The package will likely be offered straight from Toyota Racing Development, but rest assured that Motive will be using our contacts to get one from McGrath Lexus as soon as possible. The claimed output is somewhere in the realm of 500 hp. Stay tuned."

Seems like IS-F owners will soon have a taste at more power!

It's a pretty old rumor.

This was confirmed by my direct sources at Lexus that this is untrue.

this had been posted quite a while ago, and got very little response.. even though clearly on the front page of the link there Artisan states it is producing a turbokit for the F

Much like the 2GR-FSE which shares a great deal of technology with the IS-F, I seriously doubt there will be anything with significant boost working with an IS-F anytime soon. Too much compression from the factory, and no ability to tune the ECM pretty much make this about dead from a real performance improvement perspective. Lexus isn't producing another 2JZ here.

Yes they're 1 of 4 companies producing a car for Lexus at Sema 2008 this year...but the million dollar question is, will it work? Granted the tight engineering parameters both Toyota and Yamaha developed with the 2UR-GSE in the IS-F, I highly doubt it. Ask any Toyota/Lexus/Scion tuner that has worked on these cars, and they will tell you the ECM is almost impossible to decode. Also to discredit the claims of TRD producing this...there are no ties for any of the Sema projects to TRD whatsoever.

That is one major bummer about these cars, the compression ratio and ECU. In order to tune one you would need extensive work to get it right.
