IS-F and BMW M3 Campus fun (MUST READ)
So today I was taking the F out for a spin when all of a sudden a new M3 coupe jumped up behind me. The same one I commented on in previous posts (alpine white w/CF roof). We drove around campus for a bit gunning it here and there trying to get some open roads to play on.
And finally, an open red light. The guy pulls up next to me and we exchange the usual "hey great car, how many miles, lets see what it's made of". Really nice guy by the way. Anyways, so we drove around for about an hour maybe hour and a half and had some really great runs.
Run 1: Trac control off/sport: I eased then gunned it and had a great launch and basically I dusted him and he was nowhere to be found.
Run 2: trac control off/sport: Both had good launches (Mdynamic mode) and he inched out in front of me but as soon as my 371 ft/lbs of torque kicked in the F started to pull on him just a bit, then we had to slow down quickly.
Run 3: trac control on/sport: peeled the tires and engine bogged a tad. The M3 had about half a car on me till about 75 but then once again, when I got into my rev band my torque really overpowered him. At about 80 I pulled like a car on him (so now I was 1/2 car ahead). I gained just a little more until about 100mph.
All in all a great afternoon drive. Pulled over and chatted about our rides for about 30 minutes and got his # so we will go for a drive again for some more fun. He said his M3 had every single option and was 75k out the door. Hope that ends all the pricing disputes.
The M3 and my IS-F were very neck and neck the whole day. But as I said before, there were moments when my torque would overpower and push me a hair faster. It is a great car and looked amazing. You really can't go wrong with either one IMO. I have a crappy crappy vid of our first race taken with one hand. It shows me launching and losing him but I couldn't do it all at once so it's a bad vid. Also got a pic but I'm not sure how to load it. Any help would be appreciated. Have a nice day.
