The lack of a manual transmission hurts Lexus on so many accounts. The IS350 would benefit as would the IS-F. I am considering the switch soley on that fact. The 8 speed automatic is just not for me on a car with that much power.

I saw a special on the M3 on the speed channel lastnight. The manual transmission is a plus but $69k, that is 8k more than what I paid and the M3 has 414hp.

or you could get an 08 335i with a few mods(ecu, intake, exhaust) and have the same performance as the M3 and save a few bucks...but im just saying

it wont have the same performance....don't coin acceleration with performance.... there will be noticeable difference between their track times... but seemingly many people only do drag racing...

Don't bother, most of the people on the forum are badge *****s, ignorant to the thought of an "rebadge" Toyota being a real threat. That forum has a pretty hostile crowd. unlike this soft squishy foam-padded forum.

I went by the dealer just to look at the M3.

plus's bigger rubber all around and much more money!!!

Negatives- The Huge Bump in the middle of the hood. I thought the IS-F's hood would be worse until I saw it in person, but this is really a bad design on BMWs part.

I wonder how the DCT will drive for the BMW...I drove my friends current generation M5 with 21" forged rims, no cat, headers, dual intake, and exhaust...and that thing screams...but the SMG takes awhile to get used to...don't like the jerkiness of the car...he drove my IS-F and said wow...this thing is smooth even in sports mode with manual shift on....haha

How exactly does the SMG transmission work on that car?

I agree completely. In fact I wouldnt even test drive an IS-F because of that reason. Faster and smoother shifts means nothing to me, but the fun-to-drive factor does... and how much fun can you really have without a clutch?

basically like a stick but without the clutch...so it isn't a true automatic...you have to shift to go to the next gear..and if your on a hill...it will roll back a little after a slight pause when you release the brake...its weird..heh
