Id would wait until the 2nd gen isf comes out. They are not going to knock off the m3 on their first shot. They have little to no real experience in building real performance cars. This will change in the future I am sure. To jump in the ring with the m3 and not to at least cut the price to entice buyers is going to hurt sales. T

BMW lowballed the IS-F price by stripping the hell out of it. Price a M3 sedan vs an IS-F with similar options theres going to be a significant difference and the BMW dual clutch transmission price isnt even known. You have to have a DCT to compare with an IS-F. I priced a M3 sedan with the similar options/features of an IS-F with Nav/ML, its already 62-63k not including the DCT which is rumored to cost several thousand, add another 3-4k if you want it in coupe. Nickel and dimed to hell

-Electronic Damping Control (EDC) - $1000

-Extended Novillo Leather Interior - $2000 or $1100 with Premium Package

M3 Coupe: steel roof with glass moonroof - No Charge

M3 Sedan: Moonroof - $1050

From m3 post
This is how I would order one with only 1 or possibly 2 options. The rest I don't care for.

M3 Sedan $53,800
Dest. $775
Must have EDC. $1,100
Maybe 19". $1,200

Total $55,675 or $ 56,875 w/19"

BMW gives their customers a choice whether they want a $55K M3 or a $65K M3.

can customers get the m3 for 55k? i thought demand for the car would be very crazy...so markups are definately going to be added...i remember the last m3 that came out and have a 10-15k markup!

Add gas guzzler too. That'll be around $1,300-$1,500. This can be offset by just sticking with 18's though.

I really thought this gen M3 would not come with a moonroof at all.

Seems in Germany the M3 would be 100k here. Around the same if not more in the U.K.

I am not sure if they are overcharged or we are undercharged. That is a HUGE difference in price though for the same car in different countries.

So I am curious to see IS-F pricing overseas...

Yes, if you have the patients. You have to order and wait for your car to be built, that may take some time.

Those are cars available on the dealer lots and you want it NOW, then you probably have to pay markups.

i really wish anyone luck trying to get a 55k M3, have fun telling friends you got vinyl in a 55k BMW

there is no info anywhere confirming/denying the gas guzzler tax, they havent even put EPA numbers up for the M3

Actually I would pay extra for cloths or suede since it does not slide around as much as leather.

I thought I saw on a post on CL regarding the no guzzler tax on the M3. I thought that was weird too because for a high strung engine, normally the gas milage is not that good. We'll see

From C/D:

"The EPA has yet to provide figures for the M3, but a dump-truck-aping 11 mpg was seen on the car's digital fuel "economy" monitor on several cars at a recent track event."

I'm mainly basing my gg tax assumption on the fact that the E46 M3 had one.
Who knows, maybe they won't get hit with it.

This is slightly OT, but I just finished reading a thread on M3post about the new M-DCT transmission. That thing sounds amazing!!

Hehe, I doubt the IS-F does any better at the track though. Certainly, the 8 gears helps the IS-F EPA highway ratings vs. the M3, I'm sure.

8 gears doesnt really help your city mileage, which is weighed 55% of the combined mileage figure

Don't be hating the M3, Toyota (and really, any other manufacturer except perhaps Hyundai) does the same thing with setting a "low" base price and then loading up with options. Look at the IS350, base $36K, loaded $45K, almost $10k more. You have to compare apples to apples and once all is said and done, the M3 will cost more than a comp. equipped IS-F, except M3 will not have an automatic transmission option...

My money, IS-F, because my wife can't drive a stick and I can't afford to have a car in the shop too often...

In Europe, fully loaded M3 coupe = 88.9k Euro
In Europe, fully loaded IS-F= 73.5k Euro
15.4k Euro difference..quite a lot I think. By the way, M3 is still without automatic...

and it's official, because we already have M3's on streets and IS-F is already ordable..
