Well the supra's being replaced with the LF-A if I'm not mistaken...

And as for fast sedans...Lexus hasn't always been up there like BMW and Mercedes Benz, oh, and Audi too.

Want to talk about good sedans...search youtube for top gear a8
...Clarkson test drives a diesel A8 that can drive 800 miles on a full tank.
...and it seemed as if the reserve tank was just air!

Even a GS450H wouldnt last against an M5 on the Autobahn. The M5 is built to last...the GS (not saying my RX hasnt lasted)...but the Lexus automobile is not built to run up and down the Autobahn everyday in excess of 110mph. The M5 would murder it. Who cares about track figures from a magazine...it's the hwy and city driving that we all do nowadays. Unless ur name's Michael Schumacher, your job isn't driving around a track all day (oh, if your a test driver, you don't count this time!)

So enough of these reviews of sedans, someone get some pics up of the oh so special IS500

i saw the new 335i at school today and the back looks like crap... they made the lights look funky... the 330i looks better (maybe not as fast).

and as for performance and what can beat what, does it really matter that much? we can compare once they release official specs, etc. or when it nears release and if the is500 on paper doesn't 'beat' the M3, RS4, etc., oh well. you'll know it'll be reasonably close in price and it beats the **** out of those in the luxury factor and you can always mod/tune. =)

i was one of those wonderers, but its so far away from being released unlike the M3, RS4, it hurts to think about it. like i said in an earlier post, until it comes out, i'll worry about the 350 and all the parts in japan that need to be imported here.

I mean the new M5 is a sedan.
1998 GS400 was not even the fastest in 1998.

Is350 fastest in its class? What is this "class" entry level luxury?
Why is it cars bellow its "class" can still own it. Example? Mustang Cobra (the SC one). Even the STi would own the IS350 until high high hwy speeds.

What the ... GS 450h?
Lexus says the GS 450h is rated at 339 combined horsepower with the gas engine and electric motor.
Price: Base MSRP for the 2007 Lexus GS 450h is $54,900.
For 54900 I can get a brand new CTS-V or STS-V that would eat the GS 450h for breakfast.

Lexus has no fast cars. I define fast by running a 1/4 mile in low 12s
I am going to play nice b/c you do not know your facts.
12s in the 1/4 mile is "fast" to you. That is an OPINION. What I stated were FACTS. I've been around the Lexus block a LONG time, owning them since 1996. I know a tad bit about the brand.
1. Lexus advertised and the Lexus GS 400 WAS THE FASTEST AUTOMATIC SEDAN ON THE PLANET for awhile until it took special edition cars like the AMG E55 and Jag XJR to take that title. I did not say forever. I said for a time.
2. Lexus advertised the IS 350 as FASTEST IN CLASS as in the ENTRY LEVEL LUXURY CLASS b/c it is. It remains to be seen if the automatic 335 is faster though I am sure it will be VERY close.

You are comparing Lexus cars to special V/AMG/M cars. Of COURSE the Lexus will be slower. Apples to Oranges.

Lexus cars are VERY FAST now. Before the GS 400, no Lexus do 0-60 in under 5 seconds. Now the SC/LS/GS/IS do in one form or another.

FAST is relative.

Please read in our car chat forum LF-A is a Lexus only V-10 model, it may move to a V-8 as it is F-1 influenced.
The Supra will have the IS 350 V-6 and maybe the LS 460 V-8 as an option and like the IS be based off the GS.
The GS 450h IS NOT M5 competition at all. Of course a V-6 hyrbid will get murdered by a V-10 all out sports sedan.

I agree. R&T = idiots.

They were the ones that spoke of the "potential" of the 1UZ series of engines being in the new supra. So stupid they don't realize the UZ series of motors is GONE like the dodo.

Going by the seat of my pants, I'd say that the autotranny (not DSG or whatever it's called) BMW 335i coupe is no faster than the IS 350. If there is any difference it is very minimal and not clinically significant as we say in the medical world.

Perhaps I should..but I really have nothing to argue about. I am simply observing how logical and correct the moderators are. Your arguments are lopsided misinformed and misguided..to be honest I don't know what it is you're trying to prove. I think your comparing two different vehicles in different classes. (apples to oranges) Also, how is anything that you're saying factual? Have you tested this theory? Are you an engineer\test driver for Lexus\BMW? Perhaps you own both of these vehicles and have driven both of them on the autobahn? The one fact I will state is this, Lexus benchmarks their vehicles in/on Nurburgring. enough said.

Personally, $70,000 is just way too much for a little IS. I would still expect the top end price of the super IS to be $60,000. Any price beyond $60,000 is just *****ing ridiculous. A $70,000 “Super” IS would keep out all the riff-raffs, but honestly how many potential buyers of this level of car would consider the "Super" IS Lexus at a $70,000 price point. For $70,000, I would forgo the “Super” IS and look in to a Porsche 911, Maserati Coupe, AMG Mercedes, Audi RS4, Vette Z06 or some super BMW M3. I don’t care what other ppl say, the IS has no business being in the 70g price level. Don’t get me wrong, I love the IS, and I have a old IS3 and plan on getting the IS350, but all this talk about this insane price is just too much for me to believe.

He said that you got owned, which seems factual to me based on your previous post history. No offence, but your posts are pretty baseless. Seems like you are simply regurgitating what you overheard someone say.
