Ford Raptor
I am thinking of trading in the F for a Roush Ford Raptor. The F is a wonderful car but it is a little small for hauling around the family and 4WD would be helpful as we take frequent trips to upstate NY in the winter. The downside to the Raptor is possible reliability concerns and MPG.
Having a truck would also be helpful with projects around the house. I drive about 15k miles a year.
Now my dilemma is that I could possibly do without a truck and just get a bigger AWD car. But I need at least the power I have in the F today if not more. 500+ range would be ideal. And I need to keep the price below $55K. I'm not opposed to used.
What do you guys think?
1. Get the Roush Raptor- deal with MPG
2. Keep the F- Deal with the lack of space and AWD
3. Buy a different car
I would rather not buy a beater (spare car).
Thanks for any input.

A car is a car and a truck is a truck. I really don't believe a good dual purpose solution exists, and even if it did, would you really want to treat your toy like you would treat a workhorse. As you can see by my sig, I have an F and also a Silverado. The Silverado is newer than my F and has less miles on it, but it is my around town vehicle, hauler and weekday driver. My F is for fun, trips and weekends.
I like my truck a lot, and have slightly modded it, but it is, after all a truck
I am retired and also have low mileage on both the F and the truck.

Roush Ford raptor would be your most ideal option since you mentioned projects on the house. Plus it has the horses. If house projects are not a priority you could get a hatchback STI for way less than $55K... you could prob mod it up to 500 AWHP for less than a total of $55K. Audi SQ5 is also a nice option but I think it's way over $55K. All of Audi's S models are pricey.

I have a Nissan Frontier Nismo crew cab as my DD, it's not 500 ponies, but plenty enough to get you in trouble. 4 doors, decent size bed and plenty of towing capacity for what I need to get done.
IS300 and ISF are my "other" cars, but the mileage/work/projects goes on the truck.
Not sure you'll find a reliable all around car for your needs.
I'd have to concur with the gallery here, you won't catch me dead (or alive...) in a Ford.
Not really much help here, just my $.02...

I purchased a 2013 Ford F150 platinum with the 5.0 coyote and had the Roush S/C installed after a month and WOW what a totally different truck . No its not the F but similar in some ways .. like the sound inside as you hear the super charger whine and the throaty exhaust when accelerating. The F with the Sikky and Joe Z is my favorite to drive on special occasions, but to drive as a daily driver... You will not be disappointed with the Roush F150.
