Default Failed Visual Inspection CA Smog

Hey Guys,

Took the car in for Smog Check today, the tech said he I failed "Visual Inspection" as one of the Vaccum Hoses was disconnected an zip-tied away. I'm the 2nd owner of the car, and the previous owner had installed a JoeZ intake.

I have attached some photos of the where the "disconnected/tied-off" vacuum hose is. Any reason why this hose should or shouldnt be connected?

Based on the EVAP diagram it looks like its the hose where the Vacuum Switching Valve goes into the Actuator...

Should i just take off the zip-tie and reconnect it?

BTW, the car runs great with no issues whatsoever, no check engine light or VSC lights.

I have no idea why someone would do that. Just connect the hose and enjoy the new sound of the intake flap opening.

Yes, but it was proved to lose power, not gain. Doing this is silly.

I just passed mine here is san Francisco.I had removed my red hps intake tubing to avoid extra "looks"from the inspector. He asked me about my exhaust I told him it's stock (I have borla catback) lol.

lol these inspectors are ****ing retarded, they have no idea what the vac line does but will fail it anyways.

Anyways, yes, you can put it back on because apparently someone that tested it at the track actually went faster with it ON than OFF.

Hopefully the OP got the pass the second time around. A silly little zip tie caused the inspection fail, while a bright blue intake didn't. My shop guy knew about my Joe Z itake and I had the stock intake with me in case he needed to go by the book. CA and its smog regulations both visual and mechanical are the only reason why I still keep my OE parts. Friends from the BMW and MB crowd are frantically scouring the net for stock parts to swap just because they failed either the visual or the smog run itself.
