Default Paddles vs. Shift Lever in sport mode...

Just curious here as I tend to find myself using the shift lever more than the paddles when driving. Does the shift lever shift as fast as the paddles in sport mode? Is there even a difference? I guess the way I sit when driving, makes it more comfortable to use the lever. It's also difficult to use the paddles when turning. I'm sure it's negligible either way, but was just curious. Any of you guys running the 1/4 mile try it both ways?

I use the shifter on the street most of the time in a relaxed mode.........but when I was on the track, it was both hands on the wheel and all shift levers...even the hair pin corners, never really caused my hands to lift from the steering wheel.

You're all crazy, haha! I only use the shift lever when I'm turning through a long stoplight and want to get into 2nd in the lower rpms. Sometimes the paddles are not convenient.

To me the "engagement" point with the shift lever takes too much time since there is quite a bit of travel before it changes gears.

I either go paddles or full auto and let the car do it's best to get into 8th ASAP.

I've definitely used both methods of shifting, but have only tried the paddles during a 1/4 mile run. I don't think there is any way it would be beneficial to use the shift **** for straight line acceleration. Not only does it have a longer throw than the paddles, but you would also have to take your right hand off the steering wheel to make the shifts. When you are doing a quarter mile run it is beneficial to have both hands on the wheel and your attention focused on moving in a perfectly straight line.

Always paddle shifters here too. Especially when hitting high speeds I prefer to have both hands on the wheel.

I don't understand why anyone would want to take hands off the wheel when there are paddles to ensure you do not need to do this. Even with the car loose in mid-corner, you can shift with confidence the car won't get upset when using the paddles.

Using the lever has never felt natural in any car. Don't really know why.
