This is why tirerack's detailed specs are nice. You can see what they have listed for section & tread width, which can vary quite a lot. For example, a 275mm and a 295mm tire should only be 20mm difference in width theoretically...in reality though (according to tirerack with Michelin PSS tires) the 295/30ZR19 tire has a 302mm section width and a 292mm tread width. The 275/30ZR19 tire has a 277mm section width with a 259mm tread width. That is a 25mm wider section width and a 33mm wider tread width! The 305/30ZR19 is even wider still at a listed 312mm section width and a 307mm tread width...that means if tirerack is right, the tread is actually wider than the section width stated on the tire...just something to consider next time you purchase tires.
What you are saying is true, however, the tire's section width is also affected by the width of the wheel it's mounted on. As a rule of thumb, each .5" in rim width corresponds to .2" change (+/-)in tire cross section. IOW, a tire with a cross section of 295 measures 11.9" according to Tire Rack, when mounted on a 10.5" wheel. This same tire when mounted on a 10.0" wheel would measure 11.7" and 11.5" when mounted on a 9.5" wheel. Hence, my thoughts in my preceding post.

This combo has worked on other cars with other tires well. The 295/30 are BIG. We put these on my car and even with fender rolling, rasing the car up (KWs) and some mild camber adjustment it was still rubbing sporadically but enough to not be good for a daily driver.

I know there are others out there that have different wheels with different offsets that have run a 305 in the super sports (KJH on the forums/Ken we need to talk) but I thought I would put this out there for those looking into tires.

Also thought I would put in an early plug for some Mich SS that are up for sale with no miles on them other than the test fit/drive. Shoot me a pm if interested. Will probably try to put them on Ebay later today. 255/35-19 and 295/30-19.

'Tis true. The Michelin PSSs are BIG tires with AGGRESSIVE rim protectors. They place a premium on absolutely correct offsets. I have 19 x 9.5s and 19 x 11s on 265/35s and 305/30s, respectively. Coupled with the concavity of my wheels, it was a LOT of work to get the fitments just so, given my preferred ride height. I had my tires about 6-months earlier than my wheels. They are GREAT tires and I would not want to give them up unless I absolutely had to.

Yeah, I was going to put a little blurb in my comment about this. I got so long winded in my post that by the end I forgot

Did you have to do anything special to fit the 265/35ZR19 in front?

No, nothing special at all. Just mount, balance, corner weight and align the car. I'm lowered on HKS Hipermax M1 coilovers.

Great read, the PSS are a very chubby tire. Check out this link, it has pics which show you exactly how wide these tires are compared with other brands

What offsets do you have? I would love to fit a 265mm tire on the front.

It looks like we have another great tire option.

http://blog.tirerack.com/blog/bens-b...e-f86a3eb73c7a

The Yokohama Advan Sport V105 is a little pricy, but seems to perform very well and comes in good plus sizes for our cars. Funny enough though, it isn't available in 245/35R19 or 275/30R19. It does come in 255/35R19, 265/35R19, 285/30R19, & 295/30R19 though.

Nice find! Thanks!
I'm running a 245/275 set up right now. What would be my options for this tire if I chose to continue a wider, staggered set up?

It depends on what width wheels you have and if they have conservative enough offsets to fit wider tires. If you had the 2012+ stock ISF wheels for example (19x8.5 +45 & 19x9.5 +52 ...I think), then 255/35R19 front and 285/30R19 rear would be perfect. If you had a 19x10.0/10.5/11.0 +55to+60, then you could run 295/30R19s in the rear.

^^^^I'm running the 245/35, 285/30 combo (Bridgestone S-04 PPs) on my stock width 08 wheels with no issues. Great Handling

Stock '08 wheels. What options does that leave me with?
