Yeah....and gets many from all sorts of car guys. When you rev it hard...yeah....it's F-ing loud. And i like it that way...but if you drive it like a normal person, it just rumbles.

My last tire choice was the Bridgestone Potenza S-04 Pole Position. I have 245/35/19 and 285/30/19. these are real close to the OEM heights and fit fine on the stock wheels. The S-04 PPs came in second in the C&D article. I probably would have gone with the PSS if they came in the 285 size I wanted for my rears. But, so far I am very happy with my choice. The S-04s are, IMHO, a great tire. Also, note that the C&D and the Tire Rack tests were done on a BMW 3 series with 225/45/17 size tires on all four wheels. Not sure how well that translates to our staggered setup?

But, from all I've read, the PSS is certainly a great tire.

Looks like conti's are the best value when taken into consideration treadwear and performance.

Keep in mind that treadwear rating numbers vary among manufactures. IE, a 150 treadwear Bridgestone doesn't mean it's going to wear twice as fast as a 300 treadwear Continental.

I have Bridgestone RE-11s on my car and it has a 140 treadwear....I'm at about 34k miles on the front tires and I JUST changed the rear tires a few days ago and got 34k out of those.

Yep...and keep in mine...these are Extreme Performance Summer Tires....not too shabby the mileage I'm getting on a 180 treadwear... And I drive my car pretty hard too.....

EDIT: In the past posts I said it was a 140 treadwear, it's actually a 180. I think the Potenza RE050A is a 140

I'm running factory sizes on OEM wheels. 225/40/19 and 255/35/19

Back in the day, I tired Nitto NT555 (maybe like 5 years ago), and I wasn't very happy with it's performance. My first set of Bridgestones were RE760 Sport...then of course my IS F came with the RE050As, and I've used nothing but RE11s since. I want to say I'm on my 2nd set of fronts and 3rd set of rear RE11s. I guess that shows how much I really like the tire.

I REALLY wanted to experience the Mich SSs on my car but to no avail. I have learned the hard way that not all tire sizes (dimensions) are created equal and there can be significant varition. I recently picked up some new wheels for my car (BC Racing - Thanks Figs) in 9x19 front and 10.5x19 rr in offsets that should work with no mods. This combo has worked on other cars with other tires well. The 295/30 are BIG. We put these on my car and even with fender rolling, rasing the car up (KWs) and some mild camber adjustment it was still rubbing sporadically but enough to not be good for a daily driver.

I know there are others out there that have different wheels with different offsets that have run a 305 in the super sports (KJH on the forums/Ken we need to talk) but I thought I would put this out there for those looking into tires.

Also thought I would put in an early plug for some Mich SS that are up for sale with no miles on them other than the test fit/drive. Shoot me a pm if interested. Will probably try to put them on Ebay later today. 255/35-19 and 295/30-19.

^^^^From looking at your pict, it appears that perhaps running a wheel that is slightly narrower like a 10" or maybe even a 9.5" might cure the problem. Do you know what the offsets are? As you are probably aware from my post above, I am running a 285 Bridgestone S-04 on my stock 9" wheels with no issues.

I feel for you. I have experienced this on previous vehicles.

This is why tirerack's detailed specs are nice. You can see what they have listed for section & tread width, which can vary quite a lot. For example, a 275mm and a 295mm tire should only be 20mm difference in width theoretically...in reality though (according to tirerack with Michelin PSS tires) the 295/30ZR19 tire has a 302mm section width and a 292mm tread width. The 275/30ZR19 tire has a 277mm section width with a 259mm tread width. That is a 25mm wider section width and a 33mm wider tread width! The 305/30ZR19 is even wider still at a listed 312mm section width and a 307mm tread width...that means if tirerack is right, the tread is actually wider than the section width stated on the tire...just something to consider next time you purchase tires.
