When a 458 Italia Owner Comes Over to Compliment Your F...
I thought I'd share a story with you guys from today...
I decided to do a mountain run this morning through the backroads of Temecula (79 S) on my way to San Diego for a business meeting. Any of you who are familiar with this area of SoCal (Borrego Springs, Julian, Lake Henshaw etc.) knows that it's like gods country and the roads attract a lot of enthusiast drivers/riders.
Anyway, when I got to Borrego Springs I pulled into the town's only gas station. As I'm in the process of refueling, a black 458 Italia pulls in with an older driver behind the wheel. I was busy trying to get the damn pump to recognize my debit card, so was caught off guard when the Ferarri driver came over just to compliment the F.
It turns out he's 82, also has a GTS Viper for the track, and has spent time in his buddy's F at Chuckwalla's new road course. I'm 42, and it's always so cool to me when you meet guys at the track or in the canyons who are 70-80 yrs old and still as passionate as ever about performance.
When a 458 Italia owner makes a point of coming over to compliment the F, you know the ISF/LFA have come a long way in gaining Lexus the respect of performance/enthusiast drivers.
Anyway, just thought I'd share what was a fun day. All in all, a great day having made a new friend who's an older enthusiast. Sorry I didn't think to take pics of his Italia at the time but here's a few roadside pics from the trip back..

Awesome, I have been complimented by many on the ISF too.
BTW I noticed you wrote that you used a debit card on the pump. May I suggest using cash or credit card as there have been episodes when the stripes were tampered and the card number and pin was captured by hacker(s).

Hehe qft
OP, yeah man people underestimate the F so bad because they think its under the stereotype that all Lexus' are soft and watered down but they'll realize that thats not the case when they're chasing one lol.

Yeah I did get his number
I'm all for it...this particular route would be another great run for us SoCal F owners to meet up and do. We could take Sage Rd from Hemet (Sage is another amazing road similiar to the Banning side of Idyllwild.) Then Sage Rd dumps you into the 79 south. Like I mentioned in my OP, 79 south takes you through some epic twisties and scenery for many a mile. We could then hit Lake Cuyamaca for a bbq/picnic or something, as it has plenty of parking with firepits/bbqs as well.
I hear ya...thanks for the suggestion.
That's so true...I'm sure many of us F owners (especially those with e/h/i) have helped in breaking the stereotype of Lexus' past image when we pull up to stoplights. There's something inherantly cool about pulling up next to a Lexus that sounds like it's packing an 800hp Nascar V8.
You can't go wrong Kody...that Italia is one sexy beast.
