honestly, i havent torn my panel off to look at what is in there.....you might get away with leaving the stock stuff up front intact and sending them more power......but how much more power? I dont know.....i know i am ripping all of it out (except the head-unit) when i get started. Good luck bro!!

I still can't believe the radio in a 70k car is this bad. Did they upgrade it any in the newer models?

The ml system is was underpowered in my opinion. The stock 8in sub is not going to get the job done. I blew the sub once and Lexus replaced it for free. I ended up putting a JL W6 4ohm with 600 watt mono block JL amp in a ported box. It sounds amazing now i would highly recommend the set up.

My 08 system sounded better than the new 2011 that I have now. I am not sure why either. In my 08 I would only bring the vol up to the mid 40 for the loudest it would go before distortion. Now I am well into the 50 with the new ride. I don't get it.

I have some DVD audio discs that sound excellent in the car though.

Whoa, what a bump up to the top!

Stock sub is under the rear deck (back windshield).

Like so many others, I thought the lows on the stock ML were a bit weak so I added a single JL 10 powered by a 300W rms Alpine amp in a custom box, and now I have more bass than I need. Gains on the amp all all the way down, bass set to +3, and I typically listen to my sound system on about 27-28. If I put it up to 35 and some hip hop I'm booming!

I concur...

I have 2012 IS-F and the sub sucks...The sound is so bad, I took the car back to the dealer thinking the sub was blown (works as designed was the response). The ML sound is pure crap. I still cant believe how crappy the bass response is...

I have a 2013 RX350 and the non ML sound system blows it away...sad.
