Default Window Tint on IS-F

I was told by the dealer that to do window tint on the ISF, they have to take apart the whole door. I was wondering if this is true? Also, it would cost $500 with them. What did you guys pay? How dark should I go on a silver ISF with black interior? I have 5% tint on my white Acura with beige interior and it looked great!

disassembly of doors, NO Your dealer doesn't know what he's doing. Go to a shop that specializes in tinting.

I guess what theyre trying to say is that in order for the front windows to be tinted correctly it requires the removal of only the front 2 door panels.

What type of film does the dealer use?

Taking the door apart is unnecessary. A 5% tint on a black interior is like a limo tint and begs for PD attention.

Find a *good* tint shop and do it there. I've had Huper Optik ceramic 40% all around on my last 2 cars, including the F, and it's amazing. Both times, it's been $450.

of course your still using metallic tint where as in shops offer ceramic and carbon tints now a days to reflect more sunlight then those "limo" tints. i personally have suntek "carbon" film cause huperoptik didnt go dark enough for me. i got a MM 2011 with black interior. 18 percent all the way around and 35 percent on the windshield. hahaha i love the look. on my previous car (a 350z) i had 5 percent all the way around and 40 percent on the windshield. and unless lexus' windows come with uv blockers. i can really feel the difference of a higher quality film

BTW they removed the rearview and rear brakelight to get the fitment right on the car. and OP dark black tint on a silver car looks sexy. in my eyes. especially with like a polished rim.

You are getting raped for $500.00. It's un-real to think that people and dealerships have the ***** to charge this amount of money. I was quoted $275.00 for mine.

Did you guys miss the part where it says "ceramic"? $450-500 is a very good price for top-quality ceramic installs. Some places charge over $700.

Of course, if the dealer is trying to charge $500 for a carbon/metallic/etc, aka "cheap tint", then it's a ripoff, hence the recommendation to go with an independent shop.

Don't think so... and it wouldn't be advisable to do it anyway. It's far from straightforward and will probably look pretty bad even if you use quality film.

Just go with a shop, make sure they're reputable first. If you don't feel like spending the cash for ceramic, a non-ceramic quality tint job should run in the $200-250 range.

As posted above tint prices vary because there are different types of tint and installers of different skill level.

I have 3M Crystalline on my car and you'd be lucky to get that installed for $450 anywhere or by anyone that has half a clue about what they're doing.

Yes I could have tint installed for cheaper, but it wouldn't offer the same things I was looking for: UV protection, heat protection, privacy and the most important no matter what kind of tint.......good installation.

Choose accordingly based on what is important to you.

Even for ceramic that price is insane! Find a reputable local shop that does this and save.
As for the % of the tint, I never tint more than state law says. I don't need anymore attention from the cops
