Wow these are crazy looking and as Brad said look very similar to a French horn. I like the idea of adding the "Helmholtz Resonator" design but not a fan of the added pipe length.

The quality looks fantastic. I just wondered why they have only 1 pipe at the exit if the want to keep the standard stacked diffuser

The design is very similar to the Suruga Speed exhaust, it should keep the noise level very low and if the power gain is similar as well it would be a very interesting option, Suruga being quite expensive with the shipping and taxes from Japan

It doesn't seem that heavy, so probably will be a weight saver also

Is this going to bolt up to the oem mid pipe. If so, does that mean it retains the factory pipe diameter?

Should take less than an hour with a lift. Doesn't look too complicated.

Well I am not sure what to think. Based on the proto I built with straight HKS Ti cans there is not much drone at all with a straight muffler, so not sure what tone they are shooting for. The extra bends will add some cancellation, basically like a muffler outside the muffler, but I think with the added bracing etc, its going to be very close to stock weight unless they used a thin wall Stainless, like 0.032".
Props to them for doing a stainless casting for the stock ball flange, I just had custom ball flanges spun, and for robotic welding everything. The hollow hangers are also something I tried to do also to save weight.

I am going to make a bet that given the investment its going to be north of $1K but maybe it will be a nice surprise. The speculation about the musical instrument shapes adding to the tone are somewhat true however not in the classical sense of an instrument. An instrument has a gradually tapered design that amplifies sound through constructive resonance. This design is trying to do the opposite and it needs more tubing length to achieve more destructive interference. Most of the tone will come from the difference in length of the two sides or the syncopation of the resulting two tones out of each side. It could sound pretty interesting if the two sides are delay enough WRT to eachother.

To comment on the performance of my straight pipe Ti design, it netted peak gains (at peak RPM) of 8WHP. Things were pretty well offset from 3500 up so a good area of gains overall. Not much you say, but keep in mind the weight savings is much more important that the net numbers. The diffuser effect is also not measured on a dyno either so that bears mentioning.

Tracking this thread to see of people are still interested in an axle back design and what the end price will be. Thanks for the post and pics.

Well, it sure is pretty. I'll hold judgment until I see some dyno numbers and a sound clip.

Thanks for all of the kind words and interest in the R & D being done by HKS for the IS F exhaust. The folks at HKS are well aware of this thread too.

I'll be picking up my car either tomorrow or Saturday from them. Once I go over all of the details I will post what I know.
