Well, my day is finally here. Dealer states I need new rotors and pads up front...cost would be $2400. My F has a little under 20k miles on her. The car does not shudder or or anything at all. Do you guys think I could get away with just resurfacing the rotors and replacing the pads with my own bought set, instead of the stealerships?

I think I'm going to go with the carbotech pads front/rear.
Anyone know what the spec thickness is for our rotors?
Also what do you guys think about frozen rotors? for $75 more per rotor (vs raybestos) if they last a little longer it might be worth doing...if they are actually any different than stockers...

I've got a set of brand new rotors I'm taking to a local shop for cryo treatment. I'll report on how well they work after a few track weekends.

How do you go about finding a local cryo treament shop? Is is specifically for automotive or do they just specialize in cryo. I'd be up for doing this with my next set of rotors instead of paying an exorbitant amount to Cryo-Stop.

Is it worth it for every day street driving???
and does the process mess with the painted hub sections of the rotors??
Looks like I am picking up some new front OEM's this week...

The claim is 3x longer life even under track conditions. I can certainly say getting my rotors extra hot slowed the wear process pretty dramatically. My original rotors may have lots of little cracks, but they've hardly worn at all.
So, if they last 3x longer and it only costs $35 - $50 a rotor, you've saved quite a bit of money.

i have been away from this forum for a long while. so many other things have come up in life that i completely forgot about this. if there were more than 24 hours in a day that would also be great. i will try my best with the limited amount of time i have in the next couple of days to research and add some information and hopefully get this kind of up to date. sorry guys.

Did my brakes this evening. Went with the Carbotech Bobcat pads and the Centric rotors.
One thing I did notice about the Carbotech pads is they lack the wear-indicator "squealer" thing from the OEM brembo pads.
Tire Rack is close to me, so the shipping was fast and cheaper than the Raybestos from Roc Auto.
The Centric rotor is made in China. It appears identical to the Raybestos part, the cross drilling and internal fin pattern is just like the OEM part. I'm not a big fan of made in china, but they look well made. Once on the wheel hubs, the runout was well within spec and figure no reason they won't work.
Will bed them in tomorrow.
Saved me a ton of dough versus the $1800 quote from the dealer. Hopefully this will solve the dusting problem.

definitely keep us updated with the setup larrysb! i'm not a fan of made in china as well, but if is well made, then that's just another option for the F's brake and rotor setup.
