Default Seat cooling mod

Howdy; I mentioned this in an unrelated thread. I'm looking for a way to cool the driver's seat better than the Cool Dial already supplied. On my long 5.5 hour drive per week, by hour 3, the seat, butt area, and lower back simply get hot. Or really warm. Even on full cool, the seat stays overly warm. I hear there is a mod to supply cool air?

If I can't find that, I will probably go with a cover for the seat.

Not sure where the mod thread is but all you do is put some kind of a deflector under the seat to aim the cool air from the under seat vent into the intake for the seat vent intake. Look under the seat and it will become clear to you what to do.

Oh, ok. Can you really get to all that under the seat without taking it out? (I haven't tried yet.)

Yes, I haven't done it but do remember the thread where it was done. The only thing that affected it if I remember correctly was changing the seat position.

Apparently, this is not an unusual problem
http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums...no-difference/

I think I'm going to go another road. My Dodge Magnum had heated seats only but I never used them. Instead, I bought a cushion recommended by a trucker. I covered the cushion with thick seat vinyl that matched the leather seat. I never had a hot seat problem with it.

With the Lexus, I think I will go down a similar path, with thinner memory foam, since the seats are smaller, and use leather to match the seats. Then I won't even bother with the heat/cool feature.

if you have the a/c then it will be cool but if you just have the fan on then it will be just blowing air.

Hmmm.. That's interesting. Of course, if it's cooler out, I will have a bit of heat on, not AC. But the seat will get warm, regardless. So if it's AC dependent, I guess it's a part time usable system. I'll try that out and let you know if I see a significant difference.

In my opinion, if they just made the seats fully out of leather, they could ditch the whole heating/cooling crud. The seats would be comfortable.

if you turn on the a/c on high and the seat cooler on 3 then you will feel your bottom getting really cold.

Ok. thanks. Good to know. I'll give it a whack next week when I use the car again. (I have two and I'm using my other one this week.)
