New To Lexus & Convertibles - Any Advice?
Hi all,
Just purchased a 2010 IS 350 C. Since I bought the car through Carmax, and believe they did a fair job, I did not feel a lot of Lexus expertise. I upgraded from a Dodge so any general advice on what a person new to Lexus should know, I would be really grateful! New to convertibles too.
About the car, nearly fully loaded, has Nav/bluetooth/enform options, with 29,500 miles. Grey exterior, black interior. According to Lexus site, after registering, looks like previous owner did all services through Lexus dealerships. Front tires purchased in 11/11 but I think I need to purchase new rear tires. Have an appt for 7am tomorrow morning at local lexus dealership for 20k checkup (although I know Carmax did an oil change a few weeks back).

Congrats and welcome to the club. You will love the Vert and even more so since it is a 350C. Not much to worry about, check the fluids and fuel it up and go for a long ride with the top dropped. My guess is you won't be able to get that grin off your face for a good long time.

Welcome from a fellow Newbie, I just bought a 2010 IS250 C on Monday, 16k miles from a local Chevy dealer who took it on trade on Surban!
Traded it in on 325Cic with 60k, that I knew was going to be expensive in the coming months. Mine is the 'basic' Lex (oxymoron?), no Nav which I don't care about-got a TomTom, but would have liked the memory seats.
Thrilled with the Lex, just knocking around town we are getting 26mpg according to the computer, won't know until I do my first fill for real. BMW got 19mpg in same conditions.
Too hot here (Cave Creek AZ) to have top down, around 100 since we bought it.
Couple of things I really like the BlueTooth for phone and streaming audio from my iPhone. I've had it on other cars, but never worked well this works great. Softer ride than the BMW, much quieter with the 'hardtop'. Cooled seats, another great feature. Plus, just watching the roof go up and down, what a miracle of engineering!
Only negative I've picked up from reading the forum is water pumps can go out from 30k on. Some have over 100k with no problems but several around the 50-60k mark.
Two suggestions, if you haven't done it, read the big fat ops manual, a load of information in there, some of which you'd only find by chance. 2nd, be careful opening roof in any garage, trunk lid comes up quite a way.
BTW, what tires are you going with if you replace them?

Thanks for the welcome and replies everyone and gorgeous rides you have! I have been enjoying the top down these last few days. Also took her to Lexus of Santa Monica for a once over and everything checked out fine and had a very good experience with them although I did not buy with them. They suggested the rear tires were good for a few thousand more miles but I will likely change end of this month or beginning of next before taking any weekend long jaunts. Currently the rears are Turanza EL400 but I am open to any suggestions.
On another note, my Low Key Battery light came on this morning. Any ideas how long I have before it dies? I have to head back over to the dealership to get it changed, I assume.

Look in the manual if you have one, you need a CR1632, there is a step by step on how to change it, if you have the regular key fob. If you have the smart key card you can also change that battery. Not sure if you have to reprogram smart key or not.

Second...to follow up on what Machog said, it is super easy to change the battery. Looked in the manual also and it takes less than 1 minute. My battery lasted a little over a month before it died. Even if it dies, open the door with the actual key and touch your fob to your start button so it registers then start your car. I had to look in the manual for that one.
