I might be bias also but I think the fsport package looks sweet from the factory. I personally had my fast cars and now that I travel a but having the extra mpg is nice. don't get me wrong because I would love an ISF sooner or later but for now this is more than enough for me

GEEESSSSHHHHH...........
Talk about Dejavu
Everyone had the same comments last year when the 2010 IS350C F-sport came out.
And I'll continue with my response: This is a convertible. It's purpose is completely different. You can't compare a convertible to a sedan, no matter what the price is
/end comparisons to IS-F

The only exterior parts that's the same are the headlights, the door handles, and maybe the hood and front fenders (I can't remember). Front bumper, front grille, doors themselves, rear fenders, trunk, taillights and bumper all are unique to IS-C.
Interior-wise, basically everything from the driver/passenger seat rearward is completely different.

Actually, it shares less than you think.

the dash is the same, no? and although the front panels are slightly tweaked, the front half of the car is mistaken to be a regular IS sedan to 99% of the population. lexus designers did very little to set this apart from the group. and for that, i just dont see the reason for such a large premium in price without the performance to back it up. let's face, the interior cabin is smaller, and cost less to build, material-wise. so you are essentially paying close to 20k for hardtop mechanicals and body reinforcement? no thank you.
market reasoning:
IMO, once the A5 vert joined the pack, it contributed to a standard price level for the luxury vert market (the 3-series is no longer the only player). lexus scrambled, and took their smallest sedan platform and quickly adapted it to a convertible to sell it at a newly set market price - a price which isnt really indicative of the ISC's underpinnings (the IS). The A5, 3 series, etc. all share a more expensive non-vert counterpart. Which means that the premium between the ISC and IS is stretched too thin - and personally, i dont think that the value of the ISC is worthy of the pricetag....same goes for infiniti and the G vert.

And I agree, 99% of the population would think they just chopped off the front end from the sedan.
But again, you can't compare a vert to a sedan. Vert's purpose is to have wind in your hair experience.
Your comparisons of the IS line are no different than any other vehicle in which a vert is made alongside a sedan and/or coupe.
More money, less storage space. Convertibles are it's own class of car, however.

PS: I don't agree with the statement about less $$$ in materials.
The top itself has like 15 motors and almost 40 sensors, and that doesn't include all of the designing, interior panels, chassis stiffening, and other costs associated with making a convertible from a sedan.
Plus, the open/close switch is probably at least $100, right

My brother just got one in Black, I'll post pictures of it later on today. Seems like my siblings want to out do me one car at a time. I have a 07 IS250 AWD, then my younger sister went and bought a 2011 IS250C, and now just yesterday i came home to a Black IS350 F-sport special edition. FML.
