I had my 2017 IS350 F Sport for barely one day and I'm already noticed it's slower off the line compare to my 2009 IS350. On paper the older IS350 has 0-60 in 4.8 secs while the current gen in 5.6 secs. Is this because the new gen is heavier?

Think it has to do with the gears. 3IS is a 8 speed, 2IS is a 6 speed.

I've read that the 2IS can go 0-60 in 2nd gear, but the 3IS needs to go to 3rd gear to reach 60mph. Maybe thats why? Correct me if I'm wrong about this.

It's also geared less aggressively and a bit heavier. I think on highway the 3IS is faster but from a stop, the 2IS is faster. The 3IS handles better and it has useable back seats

But still, 0-60 in ~5.5 second aint no slug. Throw it in SPORT + & I can easily reach 100mph on the freeway without knowing.

I have to agree, that with a rolling start ~20mph, the 3is pulls pretty hard. It would definitely put a smile on your face =]

Ive drove both 2011 IS350AWD and 2015 IS350AWD Fsport, both car in normal mode i feel the same, if you put in S manual gear for the gen2 IS350 and turn on the ETC POWER button it pulls faster than Gen3 Sport++ Manual somehow, the Gen2 IS350 is a beast it pulls hard at stop, Gen3 pulls hard and handle much better at highway speed, like 40mph roll 50 etc, from 80km/ph i pulled to 150 without notice on highway, i love the Sporty ROARRRRRRRRRRRRRR on Gen3 IS350 with Sport++ on when you let go the gas, when u pull the engine sounds ouwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww and then let go the gas the engine Raorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr i love this thing man, who's care the gen2 IS350 is faster.
