I wonder if this is for 2014 only or all 3IS, and if it's a sealing/assembly issue or a design issue with a splash guard?

My letter says "certain 2015 RC 350, RC F Vehicles - Certain 2014-2015 IS 250, IS 350 vehicles". Whatever it is, it must've been noticed/remedied for the 2016+ vehicles.

As far as the carbon build up issue goes, Lexus Canada does and has had that extended warranty coverage in Canada for years (SPA 954, released Sept. 6, 2012). It is not USA-Only.

Thanks, Jeff. I guess we'll keep waiting

Called my dealer today and they said my 15 AWD vin # wasn't on the list. Considering I'm in the rust belt(Michigan) I am a bit surprised.

It's not location related but vin related, so this means your car is not affected by this possible problem. It was probably built near the end of 2015 after the flaw was discovered.

You could probably double check here.

I would think you would've received a letter by now.

Not many 2015's are included. The recall only includes models produced up to mid-November, 2014. (2015 production included would be August, 2014 - November, 2015).

Hey guys, i just went in for this recall, and if there is no sign of rust, they will not do anything. I live in So Cal and went to Newport Lexus and they just inspected to see if there is no rust, they will not add any preventative coating or anything. The only think that they did do is give you a full tank of gas

Funny you mention that. I've spoken to my dealer at length regarding the carbon build up issue. Northwest Lexus in Ontario and they've always said they don't have the carbon build up recall in Canada. I have an 09 IS250 as well as a 14 IS350 so I've asked about my 250 over the years. They've always said it doesn't exist in Canada. Not that the problem doesn't exist but there's no recall for it.

I believe the vast majority (like almost all) of the GEN2 IS's that experienced the carbon buildup issue were AWD. For whatever reason the RWD 250's very rarely developed the issue. My buddy's 2006 IS250, with over 200K kms, has never had an issue with the carbon buildup.
Hope your 09 is RWD.

It's not a recall really, but rather an extended warranty put in place by a WAB (warranty administration bulletin) and an SPA (special policy adjustment) to extend the coverage for that issue. It is not entitled carbon buildup, but rather misfire and/or excessive oil consumption.

If you are having the issue and it can be verified and it is before it expires for your vehicle you can absolutely get it taken care of in Canada.

I did not receive this letter. Does anyone have the specific TSB number?

I just got back from the dealer regarding my letter. No damage (sealed properly) = no remedy needed.

I didn't get a full tank of gas either - sucks for me.
