Plasti dip
Hi everyone, I just bought a 2016 is 350 f sport awd. I was contemplating blacking out the chrome around the window frames and around the front spindle grill. Is plasti dip a good product to use?

Yup, tons of videos on youtube showing how to use it. Works good on those areas you mentioned, but its really sort of a temporary way to black out the area. Depending on conditions it can last a few months to maybe a year.

+1 on vinyl, I hear 3M Di-Noc is very easy to install. Kinda pricey tho. You can buy from Amazon, but I think they charge by the foot or something like that.

I plasti-dippedy rims, window trim, full front grill, and the emblem on my old 2007 BMW 335i. Only had the car for about a year after I did it, but the grill and window trim held up very well! However, it was only really easy because I could easily remove most of the window surround and the grill from that car. I believe it's not as easy on the Lexus. You'd have to disassemble the whole bumper, etc. Given that fact, so you can avoid overspray and an annoying cleanup, just wrap them, for this specific application, it would be a lot better.

I wouldn't say 4 years, that's a bit over exaggerating.
Just make sure you do the proper prep work like cleaning, very important as well as light coats. My window trims lasted about 7 months before it started to show small nicks. It's a daily driver but in California, rain is bare minimum compared to everyone else. If you have snow or if it's really hot where you are, go vinyl.
Make sure the vinyl you use is Avery dennison or 3m only, not the cheap Chinese brand - believe me, those are HARDER to work with because they're thin vinyl that have been printed and laminated with a clear vinyl over it so meaning more air bubbles (no air bubble release technology like the good brands) and they WILL FADE in less than 6 months in the sun. Avery dennison supposedly has a two year longer lifespan than 3m but who knows

Thanks for all your feedback. I think I will wait for spring before I install anything. How much does vinyl cost? And are there ever any car meets in Ontario Canada in the GTA and surrounding areas

Plasti dip it, if you do it properly it will look great. Just make sure you take the time, and it will take time to mask. Some useful tips I've learned along the way.
1. Wait until it's warm, second time I dipped it was cold and my bottle kinda gunked up which made the spray uneven and looked like poop.
2. Mask properly, get lots of painters tape and lots of newspapers.
3. Put on at least 5 good layers, not only does it look good it makes taking it off much easier. Heavier the coating, easier to peel off when you want to.
I dipped my f sport rims within a month of me getting the car.
