cost for pads at lexus
I just wanted to share how crazy the Lexus dealer in my area wanted to charge me for pads. Maybe it's normal. This is my first time having a Lexus. So I really don;t know. To me it seems a bit much. But It needs to be done right. They quoted me about $619 for my front pads and resurfacing the rotors(16 IS300 by the way). Parts about $369. That's just for the front. I don't need the rear done. If I did, I'm guessing it would be over a grand? Anyways Toyota down the street quoted me a total of $360. Sounds good but I don't know if the quality would be the same. I thought of putting my own pads in there and just changing the rotors, but car is a lease. So I'm not sure if that's allowed or not. I guess I'm stuck with going to Lexus and paying the $619 just for the fronts. And thats my story. Vent over

Should cost you less than $200 to buy some Akebono pads (they last forever and barely any brake dust) and get your rotors machined at a local shop. With those dealer prices (both Lexus & Toyota), you can buy new rotors and still save a lot of money.

I bought Stoptech brake pads for 55 and centric high carbon rotors for 80 each.
Cost about 200 for parts.
An experience mechanic should able to do it in less than 1hr.
My friend did it in about 40 min.

You don't need to have services performed at Lexus for a leased car. You just have to show that you maintained the car during the lease. Toyota dealers can actually input service info into your service history on Lexus Drivers.
Another option would be to order the pads from any of the multiple Lexus parts websites (usually offer quite a discount compared to dealer parts department), take it to a local shop, and have them swap them out for considerably less (~$100). They'll refinish the rotors if needed. You'll save about 50% from what the dealer wants to charge.

Are the Stoptech pads noisy? I have Stoptech pads on factory rotors (car only has 5600 miles and pads were changed to reduce brake dust) and they are still noisy after bedding them and driving 600 miles. Any advice would be appreciated. Sorry for OT.

rockauto has good pads from powerstop. My GT Perf Pack with 6 piston brembos had really nasty brake dust. I put in powerstop pads that were under $100 for the entire front and rear set and they are great. Not much change in braking feel and much less dust. Just looked up powerstop Z evo pads for the 16 IS300 and they are less than $30 per axle
