Red face Just had 10k service done....

After the initial 10k oil Change, are oil changes every 5k miles? I was also told I had 40% front brakes left and need to replace them at about 15k and this is normal for my car. I have a 2016 is200t.

everyone's driving style is different. what's normal for you may not be normal for someone else. it's due when it's due.

Oil change is every 10k, every 5k interval is just checkup (basically "look" at the car).

I never heard of a car with 10k miles needing to replace brakes so soon... Are you sure they aint just effing with you? lol. I would get a second opinion on the brakes, even for a "performance orient" car it shouldn't be needed to change so soon.

Unless... you brake way too often, or track the car.

I drive my IS350 F Sport almost 100% in the city (stop/go/brake/stop/go) and I needed brakes at 10k miles. They definitely weren't screwing with me. The sound was obvious.

^ If OP is in the same situation as you, then it would make sense.

I also got a is350f, but I am mostly HWY drive 80-90%.

12k odo, brakes still pretty fresh, tires as well.

2016 200t Fsport and replaced brakes at just over 13k miles. Service rep said they were at 2%. Heard grinding noises and thought it was going to be a warranty issue. Service rep said he's seen someone come in with 7k needing new pads. Says the Fsport brakes wear quicker than the regular brakes.

Guess my 1.5 hr one way daily commute in LA traffic takes its toll on the brakes.

The OEM pads are soft, all the dust on the front wheels really shows on mine.

Pads may be soft, but stop the shortest. This kept me out an accident when an idiot decided to change lanes while his lane was stopped and mine was going 45mph. After an awful screeching halt, I was inches away from the idiot. Glad I had the dusty pads that time!

My brakes went at 15k and then 25k miles. These brakes only last 10-15k with aggressive driving.

good to know. I did buy the warranty for free brakes when I need to change them the first time. What's the point of the 15k service if we don't need an oil change then?

If your're leasing you have to so every service 5K, 10k, 15k, and so on. Or else they will ding you when you return the car. If anything goes "wrong"

If you purchased, it's good to do all service since it goes on the car fax and your car will have a higher resell rate.

False! I have skipped the 15K, 25K, and 35K mile services on my leased cars since my car has a staggered wheel setup, and the main thing at those services are tire rotations. I have NOT been dinged at the end of lease.

You can get your tires rotated for free or a small fee ($20) at most tire shops. Just reset the maintenance light after they rotate it.

On my 2014 IS250, I had the complimentary 5 and 10K services performed by the dealer. The 15 and 20K services were performed by an independent shop. No one asked me a thing and I did not get charged anything extra. The car did get sold as a CPO. They cannot force you to use dealers for service. If you have a warranty issue, they will want to see documentation of any independent service or so I'm told. The only warrant issue on the 2014 car was battery drain, which happened at 4K miles and before the first service.
