Default hard to measure oil level on dipstick of 2017 IS

Hi, We recently bought a 2017 Lexus IS 200t for my wife. Not long before that we bought a 2016 Lexus NX 200t for me. The oil on the NX is easy to read on the dipstick. And both cars have 2 liter Turbo engines although clearly I can see differences in how the engine is laid out in the engine compartment. My NX is 4wd and the IS is 2wd. Even the dipsticks are somewhat different. When I clean off the dipstick on the NX, insert, remove and read, I can clearly see the oil level, especially if I've let the oil sit for at least a while. On the IS, however, even if I intentionally let the car sit for more than 24 hours, when I both insert and then remove the dipstick, you can feel it scraping on the wall of the dipstick tube. And when you remove the dipstick, oil is way up on the dipstick, way above the full mark, at least on one side of the dipstick and on the other side, it's better but still pretty hard to truly see a clean level. I'm surprised to find it so easy to read the oil level on my 16 NX but so difficult on this 17 IS, both with essentially the same engine.

Have others had issues with reading the oil level on a 2017 IS 200t??? Or maybe on the 2016 assuming they are the same???

thanks... bob

they dont texture the dipstick so the oil runs and its difficult to tell where the oil level is. I took a file and scratched up the area between the dipstick holes and it helps.

i too did this. used some medium grit sand paper and scuffed up both sides in between the dots. try to keep the scratches/grooves horizontal
