Default IS FSport brakes

Have had my IS FSport for 40k miles. My wife drives the car and does not drive hard. Love the car and very comfortable.

One year ago, at 24k miles, had front brake rotors and pads done costing $491. The tech told me the brakes designed on the FSport wear out quickly.

Today, during 40k service, tech told us front brakes were at 5mm and needed servicing soon.
Really......one year and 20k miles and needing another brake job???

Are you others seeing this or is it a tech commission scam? Advise.

Basically the rotor thickness is 30mm and must be replace when it reaches 27mm and below.

Whenever you replacing the brake pad , your rotor will probably thinner by 1 mm

So , when you replace your rotor is when u replace brake pad at 4th time.

Under normal driving , a brake pad will last around 18000km..

I have a friend who drive the same car have the pad replace twice in a year. . Hes really a hardcore driving.

My fronts lasted 45k miles. Rotors had to be turned due to a lip formed. My backs had a lot of life left, said the Toyota mechanic. Cost was $250

5mm ought to have some life left. 2mm is replacing time.

I have a 250 F Sport with 26,000 miles. I just ordered the Centric StopTech high carbon rotors and the Akebono ACT1178 pads. The research I've done has indicated the full ceramic pads will not only last longer, put off less dust, but also are more gentle on the rotors.

Going to install ACT1118 this weekend. Can't wait to get rid of the damn dust.
