Default 2016 IS350 F Sport LED Foglights - DIY

Thought I would post a series of install pics I took while I was installing factory fogs on my 2016 IS350. I didn't want to duplicate another thread but did want to posts a DIY w/pics. I have also included links to the other threads. Let me know if you have any questions.

Starting off I purchased the lights/stalk/harness from Nigel-JDMParts http://www.nigel-jdmparts.com/index....product_id=245 . I would recommend Calmotors thread (not sure if they are still on this forum) as it lists the tools, prep and such to perform this work. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...ights-diy.html

1. Before you start I would recommend you have the below list of parts on-hand:

Parts: (see below pics)
- 2) Pins for K23 connector (unless you are splicing into pins 10 & 11 or using the separate fog light switch) ( from a seller on eBay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Repair-termi...DZUE8XL"=
- T-Tap & T-Tap connector (from auto parts store)
- 3/8 & 1/4 flex tubing (wire loom) (from local hardware store)
- 6) Fog light mounting bolts (from local hardware store)
- Wire terminals (from auto parts store or online)
- Assortment of zip-ties to include fender well mount type (from auto parts store and online for fender well zip-ties)

2. Here is a diagram and directions on how to remove the K23 pins, if you plan to do so.

3. After you've prepped the car (placed it on jack stands, removed the front wheels, disconnected the battery, etc) you can start removing the front edge of the inner fender wells. I removed a total of 7 connectors/bolts to make it easier to move the fender well out of my way.

4. Remove the 9 bolts holding the underside engine cover on and remove it.

5. Remove the 9 connectors securing the radiator cover in place and remove it.

6. Remove the passenger side cover located under the dash

7. Remove the steering wheel by following Silec's directions at the below link.
NOTE: If you have a heated steering wheel ensure you pull the connectors noted in the below pic after removing the airbag.
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...tallation.html

8. Remove the steering column lower cover

NOTE: These are the tabs that need to be released to remove the lower cover.

9. Remove the fake ducts in the fog light bay and associated hardware if there is any. (3 bolts)

NOTE: Here are the 3 anchor nuts for the fog lights. Should already be in place.

10. Install both fog lights and then start running the harness.

Continued in Part 2.

Default Part 2: 2016 IS350 F Sport LED Foglights - DIY

11. Route the harness over to the right fog light and then up into the engine bay. You may find it easier to route the harness from the right fog light over to the left fog light.

NOTE: You may need to trim the tabs on the fog lights to ensure the connectors latch onto the fog light.

12. Route harness along the air filter and up to the horn.

13. I placed the fog light relay next to the horn and secured it with a zip-tie. I also used a sip-tie that fit into one of the oblong holes in the fender - see pic. Continue routing the harness up to the ground next to the battery.

14. Using a wire terminal I secured the fog light ground to the same bolt that the battery uses.

15. Continue routing the harness to the firewall and route the wire for power up to the positive terminal on the battery. I used the smaller wire loom to cover this single wire.

16. After making a small hole in the firewall plug, pull the trigger wire through and into the cabin under the passenger side dash. Route it over to the drivers side behind the center console. Secure with zip-ties along the way.

17. Looking up into the driver's side dash I ran the trigger wire along the ducting.

18. At this point remove the turn signal and spiral cable housing connectors

19. Release the spiral cable housing latches. Pay attention to its position to make reassembly easier.

NOTE: Spiral Cable Housing LH latch20. Remove the turn signal/fog light stalk

NOTE: There are 3 latches on the stalk

Lower stalk latch

21. I ran power from the green wire just behind the ODO dash switch.

22. Route the power wire along the wire harness and follow it up the steering column. Be sure to leave enough slack for the column to extend.

23. Connect the trigger and power wires to pins 10 & 11 in the K23 connector. The two arrows at the top of the connector indicate where you release the latches to change out pins 10 & 11. The arrows at the bottom point out pins 10 & 11.

24. Reassemble in reverse order. Pay attention to the alignment tab shown below when reinstalling the lower column cover.

25. When reinstalling the spiral cable housing make sure you align the two arrows as shown below.

That is about it. Here are several site links that I used to help answer various issues that I ran across. Feel free to ask any questions or if you need a larger/detailed pic.

Wow comprehensive! Excellent work! Question, because you tapped into the stalk power, does this make the foglights come on automatically with the headlights or driving lights? Also, is this DIY for buying the GS or non-f-sport stalk so you can use the fog light switch on it?

Thanks RocketG35. I used the OEM stalk that came with the kit that I purchased from Nigel-JDMParts. When I switch on the fogs they will come on with the parking lights. I like this look. They do not come on with just the DRLs. The kit does come with a separate fog light switch that would fit in an empty dash slot.

If you are looking for GS Fog light info here are several links. Some of the info in the below threads even cross-references to IS Fog Light installs:

Thanks. Not looking for GS info - the GS stalk works for our car as it has the fog light switch in it.
