wow! Where was this when I still had the car. However, I might just try this fixing up some spare rims in my garage. I don't know what specific color my rims are considered so matching perfectly would be a nightmare.

^ What kind of wheels do you have? Post a pic and can help you find a paint color!

No problem. Totally understand. I never been very good with arts and crafts so a little afraid to do it... I dont want to make it look worst then before. Thanks anyways.

I think you'll be fine. Just be confident and take your time. You'll be alright. It's just a car. not that scary!

E46CT,

When I applied that color paint, it looked way too dark compared to the rest of the wheel (I have a 2016 red IS300 F sport).

Did yours go on dark and then the clear coat lighten it up?

Depends how much you add I suppose. The less the better. When it dries it tends to blend well. Mine looks great

Appreciate the great write up. Strongly considering trying this myself. Tempting to think I can fix my wheels for just a few bucks...

Just got my CPO IS about a month ago...the previous driver, though only driving 18k miles, managed to scratch 3 of the 4 rims...badly. While it definitely isn't the biggest gripe, it is bothersome considering replacing a set of these wheels is like 2 grand.

Wonder, what do you think would be the cost to repair a single wheel professionally?

I think the issue was that I had not shaken the bottle. Shook it and achieved a much better result. Thank you for the info!

When I had my IS, I paid $130 (including 9.8% tax) to have a wheel professionally repaired.

Yeah about $100-$200 per wheel. You'll be without a car a while though.

This is a good quick fix that can be done in your garage.. and for cheap!

This is a great way to take care of it yourself, indeed.

I had mine fixed through my dealer. They just hire a mobile guy to come do it, but on the upside, by going through my dealer, they provided a free loaner. I dropped my car off in the morning and picked up the loaner, then on my way home in the afternoon I swung by and picked up my car. Very hassle free, but I am fortunate to live fairly close to my preferred dealer.

Yeah if it was one of my babies that go to car shows, I'd have it done by a pro. But for a lease and minor rash, I went ahead and tried this. And I can't see the damage any longer. It worked great. You can barely notice if you stare up close.
