2014 is350.

I know its a normal function for the car to downshift. Lately, during breaking and letting off the gas it has been downshifting more than I feel it should; unnecessarily too much at times.

Are you in sport mode?

In Sport mode the shifts are more aggressive and the trans downshifts further with less input from the throttle. Same when breaking hard, in sport mode it will downshift as your breaking.

If you're in sport/sport + the shifts will feel a little rougher and more aggressive. This is normal when you're in sport mode, but in normal mode you shouldnt really feel the shifts.

my car does not downshifting often when I let off the gas, even in sport plus mode. It usually just hold the current gear unless the speed is significantly slower. I agree with EJ and Brendanf that car wont downshift more often in normal mode and especially eco mode

It takes some getting use to in sport mode. It almost feels like the tranny isnt going to shift at all sometimes.

agreed, depends on how you hit the gas pedal.

Under hard braking or cornering the tranny will downshift more and stay in the lower gears longer. It's due to the G-Force AI in the 8-speed.

True, even under moderate braking in Normal mode, it will downshift at least one gear, It's smooth, but I can feel it a bit. I am a fan of the 8 speed transmission
