Default Why exhaust tips keep getting buildup?

not sure why it keeps happening. I have the stock is 350 f sport dual exhaust with the chrome tips and keep getting that black buildup around the bottoms.

Buddy says ways it gets worse when you add the aFe intake because the car is running rich. Any way to counter this?

Or should I just get black tips and deal?

Running premium gas. May start running non-ethanol soon

So far ive just been dealign with it. Got the car about 3 months ago and it looked like the previous owner never attempted to wash them so they were pretty much completely black.

I used this metal polish to clean them up and they stay pretty clean. I wash them every other week and they look great. Not sure if you already have a cleaner for them, but I had awesome results with the product I've been using. Hope this helps!

I'm not sure why the carbon builds up so much on the exhaust tips and I don't care enough to look it up. My GTI and STI were worse. My brother gave me a bottle of Brasso it's a metal polish. It's dirt cheap and the tips look great after a polish. Once polished good and tight all you need to do after that is wipe them off with a wet paper towel.

Arent they suppose to get dirty? Thats where all the exhaust fumes and water drips out. A similar question would be like why does my toilet get dirty lol. No offense.

Agreed. Maintaining them is a breeze once polished up nicely
