Even if he went for the 350 he is only looking for the amount of power needed for the daily life such as passing someone easily on the freeway, if he is looking for power then he could have gone for something like the gt500 which was cheap in 2013. Now you could get CPO hellcat for the same amount you are paying to get the f sport.

The gearing on the 3IS isn't aggressive below 60mph. The 328 is about as fast from a stop for sure. However, after 60mph, I find the 3IS pulls away from a 328...i've done it first hand 
From a highway roll, its also faster than the 328 and handles better to boot. The advantage with the 328 is that its super easy to make it faster than the 350. If i were to lease, I'd get a 340 instead. Those things pull like a freight train

I'm tired of lexus also,in the market about January time frame. I'm researching 2013 audi rs5, 2010 gtr maybe 2015 rcf don't know yet. even dodge charger r/t scat pack has my eye, heard their pretty dialed in now a days, so ill see

He said power was overrated which to some degree it is. But wouldn't you say the amount of power for a 328 and a IS350 would both be sufficient? Some here make it seem like the 328 is a dog when in comparison, one is not that much faster than the other even though the hp difference seems much bigger. Like I mentioned, a 3mph trap speed difference is arguably big in a roll race but for daily life and passing on a freeway it is negligible.

I seem to keep coming back to Lexus. Im looking at a $49k 328ix and a $51k IS350 Fsport AWD and the monthly for each are $600 and $550, respectively with the same terms. Not sure the 328 is worth it, doesn't have radar cruise, blind spot monitor, cross traffic and has 17" rims. Just seems like you get more with the Lexus except driving experience.

thanks for the responses, I'm actually still 16 and 0-60 doesn't really matter in the real world, but honestly my first choice was an IS200t, but since I live in NJ, and theres no AWD, I stepped up to the IS350. The IS300 is a little pointless to me, and for the extra 50 hp I would get the IS350. In no way am I bragging, or being ungrateful because for any kid my age to get a Lexus or BMW would be a blessing (unless you are the girl who got an SC430 in the wrong color on YouTube.) My father owns a Toyota dealership so I'm not paying for the car, he is, but then I'm on my own. As much as I want the BMW, I'm choosing the Lexus because I am paying for maintenance, upgrades, and all of that stuff. My dad got $10k off his GSF with the connections he has, and the car is only $55k because of F-Sport accessories, all weather floor mats, and stuff that usually is added on at the dealer. I am keeping this car until I'm 22-23 & I am striving to work for a Lexus dealer once I get out of college. So if I wanted a BMW then, thats probably not the greatest idea.

I did drive them back to back along with the c300 and S3. I liked the S3 best, it was the quickest and most fun. I put both the 328 and the 350 in comparable sport + mode and I just felt the road more with the 328, doesn't mean it handled better though. I also drove the merc c300 and thought that was the smoothest of all. Wife didn't like the roughness/sportiness of the S3 so that is out. I hated the c300 looks so that is out. All that is left is the IS and BMW. I don't care about either all that much as it's just my daily driver/commuter car so that is why value is an important part of the equation. I just wanted to try a different brand for once and the price keeps me coming back to Lexus.
