Alert: Nav system locking up

Pit Crew
Just went to my local dealer here in woodland hills, ca. Was a long line of cars waiting to get reset. Took about 30 minutes but seems to be fine now. I know i could have done the reset myself, but i wanted some free bagels/donuts and coffee.
I saw all types of models coming in, so it's pretty widespread.

Showed up to dealer. Saw general manager, explained how long I have been a customer and how many Lexus cars I have had, he pushed me through. In and out in 15 minutes!!!

I got mine rebooted at work. Took no more than 5 mins.
Talked to the service guys, they said it should be a permanent fix. No customers had returned back angry that their Nav system f-ed up again.

I recall from my early computer network programming days (a good 30 years ago) it was one of the key requirements how to handle corrupted data - if you can't do anything smarter - do nothing (flush the data) but crashing was a sign of a seriously flawed software.

And even more important these days with so many people hell-bent on OTA attacks. Yes, it's Programming 101 - handle bad data, even if that simply means ignoring the data and waiting for the next packet. I bought Lexus for the quality... That has to extend to software in their components too.

Weird, 2014 is350 here. Day 2 of this debacle and my nav didn't have any of these problems. I think its really weird that there are some nav systems out there that wasn't affected by this glitch. Least I know what to do if it happens within the next couple days.

On an IS350 equipped with navigation, do you have to subscribe and pay a monthly fee to keep navigation active (like Xm), or is it self-contained and always-on? Or does it utilize your cellphone data...or what?
