Default Installed: 6500K D4S HID & 2500K Fog Lights

Hello CL,

Over the weekend I replaced all the stock bulbs for the HID and fog lights with aftermarket bulbs. I purchased them from The Retro Fit Source. The total installation took about 40 minutes because I had to remove the wheel liner to access the fog lights. The installation was a success and I had no issues with the lights. Here are some pictures I took on my iPhone 6 Plus

Headlights:
- Morimoto XB XenGreen D4S
- 6500K
- 35W
- $45

Fog Lights:
- Nokya H16 Type 2 Stage 1
- 2500K
- 19W
- $30

Do they seem to be any more functional at night than the OEMs or was this strickly a personalization mod?

Just in passing, we must take care when upgrading our lighting. Quite a few years back, I upgraded my OEM foglight bulbs with a pair that were a little brighter. Although the wattage increase was minor, the heat build up was another story. Within a week of the upgrade, I realized both of the foglight housings had melted and would have to be replaced if and when the bulbs needed to be replaced again. Who would have thought that an extra 10 watts would be so disastrous... not me obviously. I was quite displeased with my "uneducated" upgrade to say the least. The car was not a Lexus, but I would imagine it could happen with any vehicle.

Hope you enjoy your new lights.

This mod is mainly for looks because I can't stand the halogen color, but that doesn't mean the light output was reduced. Since the car already comes equipped with HIDs it's still brighter than a halogen headlights. All the bulbs uses factory wattage (35W HID & 19W fog) so there's nothing to worry about. However, Lexus replaced the traditional H11 bulb (55w) with H16 (19w) so the fog lights isn't as bright as it used to be. Therefore, you can't use any fog light bulb that's higher than 19W or else it'll cause electrical issues.
