Default Test drove base IS350 and IS350 with Fsport package

Where is the power? My base 06 IS350 was really quick....the new version feels nothing like the old. What happened? The Fsport in sport S+ mode had better power.

The 2IS had more aggressive gearing from a stop so will accelerate a little faster to 60 and it didn't need to shift. The 3IS needs to shift before then and is geared better for highway acceleration.

Additionally the 3IS weight transfer is more controlled, as a result it doesn't feel fast.

To me this is the biggest reason the 3IS doesn't feel as fast as some other cars like the G37. Other new German cars also have good weight transfer and don't feel as fast as they are.

The gearing is very aggressive on the 2IS350 when compared to the 3IS350 and RC350. You can see the difference in acceleration in this head-to-head video:

Well, the RC350 is a fat pig and weighs a couple hundred pounds more than an IS350. I think the 3IS would split the difference between the two cars.

Thanks for the video.....that proves it. So I guess the new RC& IS just look fast...what a shame. I may just go with more room....and get GS.

FYI the current GS is a tad slower than the current IS because it's heavier. If you're looking for speed, then you're gonna have to go with 340i, S4, XE, or C43 (all of which are more expensive).

For the price of a GS, swing for an RCF.

I don't think the IS350 was meant to be a speed demon by any means, so if you're looking for the "fast" factor, then you'll probably have to look elsewhere. This car is a great blend of luxury and performance and I think a lot of us appreciate it for that aspect. With that said, I don't think this car is slow by any means either.

You have to level your expectations with the brand/car you're looking at.

This car is about balance. Great handling with good speed and nice amenities. Also, you just can't break it.

Then get another car? It's that simple. I don't understand why anyone would get the same car of new generation lol. If it was me I will get something else for my next car.

I had a modded evo prior to the IS350. I got all my power needs at that time. I bought the IS350 not for that.
