I'm in the market to buy a new car and I kept waiting because I knew Lexus was going to increase the Navi screen and now they have but I don't love the front end at all the grill even bigger and I don't like all that thick chrome outlining the grill and then I hate the single projector headlights. If it only had the 3 led headlamps like the RX optional lighting pkg. Why can they offer it on the RX and not the re designed IS?
Its like im ready to give Lexus my money but I'm not in love with the IS like I was when the 2nd Gen arrived. I actually liked the 3rd Gen 2016 front end better but I can't live with that small Navi screen I know I'd regret it.
I'm at a stand still because I don't see another model I'm really interested in at Lexus.

after some sleuthing at the japan lexus site, it looks like their tail-lights have no amber in them
with the tri-led headlights and all red taillights, all colors (exterior and interior) they have the best IS of them all

What's wrong with amber turn signals? Orange for turn, red for stop, white for reverse. How much more safe and clear can one have it?

exactly some ppl just expect every new model to be perfect when it's eye appeal is different to everyone. But like they said above, red vinyl and it's good to go. Exactly what I was gonna do if I got the new one. And as for Japan, I see everything on the back exactly the same as the US version so idk where that's coming from.

Every car takes awhile to grow on me. I thought the 3IS looked ridiculous when they first came out.
2+ years and its matured in my opinion. The '17 will likely be the same, although it's much more 'rounded off' than the 3IS which was a drastic makeover

just realized how much the 2016 GS projector headlights look like the 2017 IS projector headlights, both single projectors, derivative design from the 2016 GS
2017 GS I believe is standard tri-led, no more projectors

the styling is too garish. it's only attracting a segment of those who were drawn to the 2IS and even then, not very enthusiastically. everything from the spindle grille to the sharp creases and discordant lines need to be toned down as the design isn't elegant at all. lexus is trying much too hard to appeal to more youthful buyers with it's cartoonish, racer-boy styling. the german marques have got it right with their design language.
