FML - Repair Suggestions/Solutions Welcome.
Hi,
I was cleaning my car over the weekend and I saw this kid approaching on his bicycle... I knew he had lost control and was going to hit my car, but I froze and could not stop him from colliding!
Not sure if you can tell from the picture, but my bumper is damaged above the fog light... It is not a scratch or a dent; due to the impact, a part of my bumper has chipped open!!!
A dent or scratch would be easy to repair...
My insurance won't entertain me without a police report and I did not get one by telling the truth... Apparently the father has to bear the repair cost on his own... He's agreeing to cooperate for now, but if he refuses, I am left hanging and the law won't help me either... Before I change my story and get a police report, I wanted to know if this is fixable/repairable without creating a fuss?!
Please don't say that it's a "small" damage and to live with it... I can't let it go! I want to be easy on the father too and don't want him to pay a fortune... Is replacement of the bumper the only option, or can that area be somehow filled and restored to its original state?!
Please help, any suggestion/solution is welcome...
Yes, I will be visiting a garage in a day or 2 for a way forward...
Regards,
Retarded Luck!

Honest is the best policy. If your insurance catches you cheating, you'll really be screwed.
I'd go and get a couple of quotes from places you feel comfortable with and approach the father. If he balks at it, then you will have to decide is it worth suing him over it, or just suck it up and pay out of your own pocket and chalk it up as a lesson in life.
Sorry about your luck. I would imagine though a good body shop should be able to repair the bumper and repaint it.
