Default Are carbon fiber parts really worth it? Need Advice

So currently searching for a side skirt to complete my car. Currently have the Stillen Front Lip and Diffuser and i love them both. Now i need a side skirt, I've narrowed it down to two..

-Seibon TP Carbon Fiber Side Skirt - $600 from a CL Member
-AeroFlow Dynamics Side Skirt Extension - $200

Is the carbon fiber really worth it? i like how it looks but my concern is will it match with the matte black of my lip and diffuser.. if not i would have to wrap those in carbon fiber which would be about $400 for both.

the aeroflow is obviously the cheaper route and would match the lip and diffuser and is black. but not as stylish as seibon.

really torn here guys would like some advice and opinions. thanks!

Personally, carbon fiber on cars such as the IS is just for looks. I prefer to match my body pieces all the same color/pattern.

In a racing application yes.

On a street car it's for looks. There is no appreciable weight savings. It may be fractionally more durable then fiberglass but a well laid price of fiberglass will hold up as well as a poorly executed Cardin piece.

This doesn't include structural members, just appearance or aero parts.

Its not goong to match the color of your lip. Just get a fiberglass or urethane and paint it or leave as is if they are black.

Also what do you mean by is it worth it? Quality, function, fitment?

most consumer carbon fiber products are not 100% cf. it's a cf finishing layer on top of fiberglass or frp. like Snow said above, for street use, it's for the aesthetics. weight savings? no. you'd save more weight by not throwing on unnecessary cf pieces. lol

you beat me to it, my last reply was before going to bed and i forgot to mention that unless from a high end supplier its probably either just a cover layer or quite possibly just BLACK Fiberglass.

Also our cars are heavy as all hell.

When i was younger i had a chubby fried who wanted to buy a CF hood to save 10 pounds and my recommendation was either to lose the heavy MDF sub enclosure or lose some weight for free, objective complete.

It's all for looks, I just traded in my 335 for 2016 isf and I had a few CF parts on it. I was able to recoup some of my cost when I took the parts off. They were way overpriced, a BMW tax but the car did look really nice with the additions!

I told myself I wouldn't do that again but I noticed the CF front lip and side skirts from Aero Flow were significantly cheaper for the Lexus so I e-mailed them for a quote this week on shipping . I'll be waiting until the Canadian dollar rebounds before I order.
