I wouldn't dis the IS250 - it is a great car and 206 HP is not really that bad.

yeah. again, the 250 gets (got) a lot of negative press attention which trickles down into the forums, but really it is a very competent car that's enjoyable to drive for a whole lot of people. the 200t seems to be taking its place as it isn't terribly "better" by any number of metrics used by auto journalists to review the car.

I bought a 250 because a 100 horsepower can be put into the car for alot less then the $7000.00 for the 350. I would have got the 350 but it still had a 6 speed transmission, had to get rear wheel for 8 speed transmission and I I've in new York so that wasn't happening

IS350 is by no means a fast car but getting anything slower with that body style is just......meh.

Once I put a performance chip, and intake in it should boost it 40 or 50 hp, at least from what I read

While that's true in most cases, just not in lexus.

You could probably sell your 250 engine and buy used 350 engine for much cheaper than $7k

I just recently bought my IS250 last week. Why didn't I get the 350? Because I couldn't afford it, at least in the AWD model. It was an additional $4-6k to get the color combo I wanted in the AWD. I did find a couple RWD models for a couple thousand more, but still, it was over my budget. If I would've leased, it would be a different story, but since I wanted to purchase, the IS250 was the way for me. Plus, coming from a 2008 Civic with only 140hp, this is still a noticeable upgrade for me in terms of speed. My next car will either be a GS350 or RC350, so i'll worry about the extra horsepower then. But for now, this is plenty for me and I love it!

Doesn't putting in that extra 100hp void your warranty? Also, if you live in NY why would you want rear wheel drive (except maybe this weird winter)?

I think he meant the 8 speed. He can't get the 8 speed because it's only available in rwd.

Few reasons why I bought my is 250
1. Didn't have a clue about the 200t
2. 1st car and have a very good deal. (Thought to my self *** it I'll get this it's look the same anyway)
3. When I test drove it I can't test it's full power. So 250 and 350 feel the same.
After a month of break in, I start to drive more abusive and very disappointed. I wanted to trade in the car but the depreciation is too high so I have to keep it. So with the money left I just bought seibon body kit, f sport exhaust, intake, spring, and vossen cvt with pilot super sport. Look really ricey but w/e. Now I really looking forward to purchase an Alfa Romeo 4c where I can have a lot of fun.

That sucks . My salesman let me bring the car to an empty street on our test drive and he let me gun it a few times.

I got the IS 250 because I like the look, and don't need the extra 100 HP. If my priority was HP, I wouldn't even be looking at the Lexus, since there are so many superior HP/dollar offers out there.

250 for cost and for adequate performance needs, at the time.
