Default Tinting windows

Does anyone have a place they recommend for tinting cars in CA? Preferably Norcal/San Jose area.

I've been looking into different tint films, 3M, suntek, and etc. Anyone have any advices which quality they prefer?

Thanks!

I had some window film called HooperOptic or something like that put on my ES about 5yrs ago. It was a ceramic based film that was supposedly even more efficient in keeping cars cool while sitting in the sun. I had just moved to NC and figured it was worth a shot. I was a little pessimistic about it at first, but I must admit it did seem to keep my car noticeably cooler after it had sat all day, the clarity is phenomenal and it has been extremely durable. I am not easy on that car, and you would have a hard time finding scratches, scuffs or burns on the tint anywhere in the car.

I went to Mr. Tint off Kiely (in SJ). They were quick and reasonably priced. Great work, may get a discount if you pay cash too.

There's also a thread in the NorCal section regarding tint shops:

Make an appointment because they get a lot of tint requests. Rommel and his crew are auto enthusiasts, not just window tinters, so your car will be in good hands!…

I have used a number of different film manufacturers over the years, but always end up back on the 3M kick. I have had Color Stable 20 or 35 on at least fifteen vehicles over the years, but recently have been using Crystalline. Have the Crystalline 50 on my F, but CS 20 on my wife's IS as seen in this pic.

+ 1 on that! I have 3M 20% Color Stable and had my father's '15 Silverado done with the same tints! Can't complain about it Here's a pic of both cars:

+1 on 3M Crystalline if you don't mind paying the premium for it

Whats a fair price to pay? I called a local shop and he said he uses 3M tint but didn't specify beyond that. He wanted $350 for all four windows and the rear. Has the best yelp reviews in my area but it seemed high to me.

3m has different lines,
i will give you a baseline and my opinion what to get
3m fx cheap and decent should land for 175$ installed
3m color stable very good non ceramic product i had 35 on three cars 250-300 installed
3m ceramic series i heard complaints about glare don't get it
3m crystalline some of the best for transparency and heat rejection very expensive 400$-500 installed is good price
my choice find a formula 1 pinnacle dealer best ceramic film for the money in a 35-40% around 275$ installed

I've been calling around and most of the tint jobs are around 300-350 in the bay. Does anyone have Suntek Carbon or CXP? I might resort to that cause I believe I can get those for 200 installed..

Suntek Carbon and Carbon XP are different tints. Carbon is around the $200 price range and Carbon XP is around $300 in California. I have carbon XP and while it's great, I wish I would have went with 3M crystalline instead

I haven't had time to get my car a tint here in AZ yet but I believe Suntek Carbon is inferior because I read somewhere that they purple out over time and even though they have a life time warranty in most places, I wouldn't want to go back and get them re-done every so X years. Once I have time, I'm going for 3M Color Stable 35% on my F!

By recommendations, I will stick with 3M, but more importantly, I need to find a place/person who can install it very well. Thanks everyone for the input, I need to do more research on which places have 3M films and installs the tint.
