Uneven Inner Tire Wear due to Factory Alignment
Hello,
Hope all is well.
My front driver's side Bridgestone Turanza EL400 (225/40R18) has premature wear such that the steel belt is beginning to show through the center of the tread. The front passenger side tire has no such wear and the alignment is good. Anyone else ever experience same?
Please advise.
Thank you very much!

A lot of people experiencing premature wear on stock tires and the spare tire you have It will not fit, F sport has 18" diameter wheels, your spare is 17", As for replacement tires, It depends on how cheap you want, you can get 225/40/18 for less than 100 bucks from tire rack.

I have heard of others having premature wear on the stock Turanzas, but surprisingly I have over 12,000 miles on mine and the tread is barely showing any wear. I will probably get another year out of them so I'm very pleased and may repurchase them. I think it has a lot to do with the road surfaces that you are driving on. I drive 90% highway and all smooth roads. I'm sure there are plenty of cheaper alternatives. Check out tire rack online

Thanks for the prompt replies, Gentlemen.
To update you, it seems I was mistaken...
Both front tires have steel showing through the inner edge of the tread.
Car tracks straight, so alignment is good; pictures attached.
I called Bridgestone and they said to bring it to Mavis.

The OEM Bridgestone EL400 and the ER33 are absolute junk tires. I dont want to seem negative but they are literally some of the crappiest tires you can get. Both of these tires are called "OE" tires. This means they are made to Lexus spec and only sold as factory tires for this car and are not the type of tire that Bridgestone actually sells to consumers who are shopping aftermarket tires. The EL400 comes with a 0 mile treadwear warranty. zilch.
Here are some reviews of it...

Because Lexus dealerships tend to bend over backwards you may end up getting them to cover this. I would suggest for the future getting a custom alignment that has less toe in it. There is a lot of variability in what is "in spec" in an alignment and too much toe will cause inside tire wear. Good luck man.
How many miles on them?

yes lol
with a treadwear of 260 (according to tirerack) and NY road conditions, with potholes, salt on the streets, lots of stop and go, i can see it wearing much faster than say if you were in CA with nicer roads and probably cleaner roads. I'm not saying it sucks that these tires wear out so fast, just saying that it's within the range of tread life

lol is right. Please take a walk. We've had our differences before, which have always resulted back and forth.
No, I'm not asking for too much for Lexus to package a regular, everyday car with decent tires.

These tires have low treadwear rating so 19k miles seems reasonable. Also the inner wear can be attributed to the alignment and suspension setup. Plus I bet those tires were not rotated due to the staggered 18" OEM wheels. I wouldn't expect Lexus to replace those tires for free. Plus, I much rather the $ and get better aftermarket tires.

I'm at about 14k on my tires, and they are showing very little wear. I consider anything getting anything over 15k out of them to be a bonus. I am looking forward to replacing them with a better tire, though.

I have to say, as much as I hated these tires, I still have plenty of tread left after 18,000+ miles. I've replaced my wheels and tires and had planned on tossing these, but after seeing how much tread is left I've decided to keep them just in case of emergency.
These tires were the OEM tires on my last car (G35) and I didn't even get 15,000 miles out of those before the fronts were toast.
I wouldn't hold my breath for Lexus to replace them, though.

Thanks for this insight as well. Yes, as stated, tread except for the inner is good. Had the alignment been good from the factory, wouldn't be dealing with this now. :|
