Default How much would it cost to get this car fixed?

I'm a bit bored of my 2006 IS250 which feel sluggish, and since I absolutely love Lexus IS, I was looking to upgrade.
2014+ IS350 F-Sport is my choice, BUT, IS 350 is almost non existent in Europe so I have to import :/

Looked around and saw this:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lexus-IS-IS350-AWD-/331640515011?forcerrptr=true&hash=item4d3750a9c3&item=331640515011
Doesn't look TOO broken, but I'm no car mechanic. Anyone know how much it would cost to get this thing fixed?

They don't saw the bad side, only the good one.Ask them to do that but you should know only the Fsport bumper with everything on costs 2000 euros .
You will certainly need a hood and a fender for just the outside. You have to check it up first.Everything is expensive for this car and it's difficult to find used parts.I hope I helped

Thanks guys.

The thing is, if I buy a $35.000 IS 350 and import it, I have to count on 36.5% extra cost, that's over $47.000 in the end. And that's for a used car.
If I buy something cheaper and slowly fix it, then the price should be more manageable.
I do want an IS350 badly
We're kinda screwed in EU. The only fast Lexus we get is either RC F or IS F 2nd Gen. I don't really like coupes.

Agreed.

Just ballparking the repair if done in the US locally first, this at least $7-8K.

...it will need a front bumper cover, grille, hood, right fender, right headlight, right side radiator support and cooling components (fan blades and motor appear to be good). It will also need repair to the left fender (minor) and front panel right side apron (minor).

On a good note, this Lexus lot drives and there is no visible damage to the motor, transmission or frame rails.
"Appear to be good" also means the risk is all on you if there are other issues. Personally unless you are a body shop specialist or have tight connections with these folks in your country, I would just look for a good used one. Good luck!

The fact that the dealer bought the vehicle from an insurance company as salvage tells me that the insurance company's estimate to fix it was greater than the net ("real") dealer cost of a new (2015) car - which according to my research is right at $45K USD as equipped.

The dealer's eBay price is $21K USD but they will get less than that after paying eBay and Paypal fees, and they are making a profit at that price. Let's assume the dealer's cost of the salvaged vehicle was $17K. If that is the case then I would estimate that the cost to fix would be more than ($45K - $17K) $28K USD.

This might make a good parts car, but unless the buyer is a body shop with access to other parts cars, it will never be economically practical to fix it for retail sale. After all, at the end of all the fixing it will still be a salvaged car that has more than 15K miles on it and is more than two years old. What would the "retail value" of such a car be?

Probably a unrelated comment --- there is a mistake about the description. I don't know our Navigation system is touch screen.

Very well stated.

VIN numbers are an amazingly simple research tool that are sometimes overlooked. This car is wrecked hard, I would never consider repairing and keeping a car like this.

To the OP, remember the old adage, "you get what you pay for". If I were in the the EU, I would certainly hold out for a pristine example and pay the duties. No regrets that way.

That car is not worth the hassle.

Save your money and get an unmolested one.

Or, find an engine from a 350 and swap it in.

Get the 300h. Been driving the wife's IS300H F Sport for a day and it has plenty of mid range urge! Goes as quick as my RX450H in all honesty
