Did anyone cross shop IS250 with 320i

Sorry if I hurt your feelings man, that wasn't my intention. I am an auto enthusiast, and a huge fan of this sector. I am fortunate to have driven nearly all the cars in this segment, and I post my opinion on all the forums. I think BMW have the best powertrain, by some distance, but the rest of the cars is very wanting, and their interiors are ugly. Lexus are generally solidly constructed, and decent chassis, but lag the segment with their old and outdated engines. At the moment, I think Mercedes W205 C300 is the best all round car in the segment, even though maybe a tad expensive. On the other end of the spectrum, I see no reason to buy the IS250 or the Cadillac ATS with the 2.5 naturally aspirated engine, as those powertrain are uncompetitive.

The powertrain options aren't the best but it really depends on what you're comparing. For me, i thought the IS350 was easily comparable to the 328. Comparably equipped, they are about the same price with the 328 being slightly more expensive. The IS350, is a better total car than the 328...about the same speed with a much better chassis. The 335 is a better car than the 350 because it has a wonderful powertrain...but its at least $6-8k more expensive with decent options. Lexus doesn't really produce a true 335 competitor.

Can someone explain to me why I started a thread comparing the 320i (not the 328) to the 250 and there have only been 3 specific responses to my original thread topic and the rest turned into talk about the 335i vs the IS 350 and offensive remarks about German vs Lexus reliability and price.
Has this forum already gone downhill to where we can't even stay on topic????
God I hope not.....

It's a bit ironic I'm posting this on my own thread when in asking people to stay on topic, but I'm sensing a trend in this forum to thread jack others and start landslides into way off topic debates.

I did test drive the 320i before i leased my is250f, my thoughts on it we're that the quality wasent near the is exterior and interior wise. Also to be able to compare them you would need to pick out a 320i with a sport package which are around the 37 - 40k range but looks like a 30k stripper other than the m steering wheel. Oh and the lease payment on one of those was around 100 bucks more on same terms as a is250 f sport so the choice was easy for me.

Didn't test either car but considered the IS250 and would have shopped it against the 328 at the very least. When BMW calls itself the ultimate driving machine I don't want the lowest model. Have a few friends with BMW's and it feels more like a status car than anything, whether the car is superior or not.
I have driven a 335 from LA to Vegas at fast and slow speeds and the Lexus interior is much nicer. BMW is still really nice though.
I think I need to go head down to my local BMW dealer and drive a few 3 series. On that note the Z4 M coupe is one of the most fun cars I have ever driven.
