Default Wait or Buy Now

I'm interested in purchasing a 2014 IS250. Should I buy it now or wait until the 200T is release is Sept.? Will the prices go down a bit since it'll be a discontinued model?

It will depend on what you really want. Are you buying new? Used? If price is not an issue and you want new, I'd recommend you wait until the 2016 models comes out.

If you are looking for used due to price, then by all means go for it. Or if you are looking for a new 2014 because the price is better, then go for it as well. Just know that the difference is that the 2016 IS200t will have more HP and have better fuel economy.

I have a 2015 IS250 and kinda regret that I should have waited, or should have opted for an IS350. The reason is not for the HP or performance, but the resale value if I decided to sell my car in the future. Since it is a discontinued model (Less HP & Bad Fuel Economy), it'll sell for less compared to it's upgraded version (2016 IS200t & IS300).

So again, if more HP nor better fuel economy matters much for you because you will get a great price for a 2014, then I say definitely go for it. It also mean that you'll likely keep your car for a longer time as well if you do decide to get the 2014 model.

If you don't mind spending a little more, I'd say wait for the new 2016 models. It'll give you more HP, better fuel economy, and better resell value if you plan to sell it 5-10 years from now.

If you gonna go for IS250, wait for the 2016 IS200t. If you gonna go for IS350, go grab it now!

If you're buying an IS250 you should wait for the IS200T as you'll have more negotiating leverage it's a significant change to the engine and people generally want the newer model.

Just note that the IS200t is not going to be available with AWD. So if you want RWD, then yes on the 200t, if you want AWD, waiting will get you the IS300. I notice you're in Minnesota, so...a 200t might be hard to come by.

I'll wait and test drive 200T or IS300. Then make a decision.

Hey lexbabe,

Another Minnesotan here... It's not clear if you are interested in a new or used 2014 IS250.

If looking for a used 2014, then wait just a bit longer (1-2 months) as a flood of 2014's roll off of lease and hit the market...

If looking for a new IS250, don't expect a similar deals here in MN as Southern CA buyer's are scoring.............. The only 2 dealers in the state are owned and operated by the same entity---Village Automotive Group. 7-8% off retail is max for the 2015 IS350 F-sport, perhaps they deal more on the 250's?

Good luck.
