Default whats the best way to clean the black residue and stains from an exhaust

hey guys,

i have an 14' IS350 AWD with the ARK cat back. i noticed the exhaust tips are getting pretty dirty from the black tar or smoke that comes out when ripping around.

i tried cleaning it with a wet cloth, it gets most of it off, but some of it stays..
what product do you guys use to clean the exhaust tips?

Thanks,
Simon

Eagle one polish. Ive had this can for years and its always worked for me. You could go with mild acid abrasives for the tougher spots but make sure your exhaust is cool if you mess with acid based cleaners.

I've used a product called Bar keepers friend. Google image search Bar Keepers Friend Exhaust cleaning and you'll see a few before and after shots.

Steel wool will leave very fine scratches, even with 0000. Rule of thumb in detailing is to start with the mildest cleaner and move up from there.
