DIY: Oil Change 2014+ IS350 w/ pics
#31
For me, i used the dedicated jack point behind the oil pan, the crushing was the rail against the jack stands. I didn't even release the jack all the way. I can't imagine what kind of damage could've happened...

I'll try to take a pic bro when i get the chance. Basically if you look at the railing, you will see that it's built with 2 rows to metal plates joined together by few welding points. The inner plate sits higher than the other, and that's the plate that bent outwards since the pressure rested mainly on that plate.

Rhino ramps, filter drain tube answers
Rhino ramps work great. Bought them after reading of difficulty with jacks because of low clearance. Good to have a partner watching the first time, just to ensure positioning.
350 filter does not have the drain feature, so you don't use the tube that comes with the filter.

Interestingly, it appears that my 2015 IS350 F-Sport AWD is not like the example photos. Maybe it changed in 2015, or perhaps your is 2WD? For reference here are some photos.

I've put my car on rhino ramps multiple times and changed the oil without a single hitch. Its an extremely simple task and takes me less than 30 minutes all said and done. I use Castrol Edge 0W-20 and a filter from the Toyota house. Costs me roughly 50 bucks total. They also carry the oil filter wrench at the auto parts store for < $5

Wouldn't a 1/2" drive extension work just as well as a F type socket? Looks like that square hole in the filter housing takes one.

the drain plug
hi all, I am new to this forum
For the next (first for me) oil change on my '14 is250, I want to replace the drain plug with one that has a magnet in it to gather fine magnetic particles.
Question one is does the Lexus drain plug already have a magnet?
Question two is what is the thread size?
Thanks
