Does anyone find it odd that you can only get an IS200t with f-Sport Series 1?
Like its kind of like if you want any technology (I.e backup camera, mark levinson, blind spot and etc) you are forced to get the IS300AWD series 2 or series 3.
Why not offer interior tech options for people that wanted the turbo?

Are you speculating on this or do you know this for sure? I put in an order 2 weeks ago for a 2015 RWD (I live in Canada), and it was denied by Lexus in Japan because they stopped 2015 production. If there's no 2016 RWD available for Canada, then I guess I'll either have to settle and get the AWD or go for a different brand
As for the IS300, I've been told it's a detuned version of the 2GR-FSE from the 350, but unconfirmed...

Merc did that for one model year where they used a detuned version of 3.5l from the C350 into the C300.

I was just told from my dealer that the new IS300 engine will be the engine they used in the GS300 3GR-FSE. Would they actually use this seeing that this engine is quite old now??

The 200t is sort of a disappointment because even if you get F-Sport, it does not come with NAV and more of a basic car.
Lexus Canada may do a late additional introduction for the two above but will see what they decided to do for next year to see if the line up looks better.

Personally, I would prefer the Canadian car but will have to see what they will do because for me, I live in both places. At this current point in time, if I were to choose, I would have to choose the US car until then.

oh i forget about that one! And actually now that you mentioned that era the ES300/ES330 from the mid 2000's also changed with the MZ series growing to a 3.0L to a 3.3L, and the previous body (2nd gen) went from changes with the MZ as well from a non VVT-i to a VVT-i version.
ES300 from 3VZ-FE to 1MZ-FE
GS300/350 from 3GR-FSE to 2GR-FSE
GS430/460 from 3UZ-FE to 1UR-FSE
RX330/350 from 3MZ-FE to 2GR-FE
They've done a couple others in Europe (IS220d to IS200d, though it wasn't a complete engine change) and so on. Still, dropping the IS250 mid cycle for the IS200t and IS300 is interesting. Dropping the RWD IS350 in Canada makes sense, but still sucks. I almost bought one but couldn't give up my manual transmission.
