stock staggered tires on square wheels setup?
Have some 18x8.5 BBS laying around and thought it would maybe look nice on my 350... But I don't want to retire my stock tires with only 2k on them...
Any problems running the stock tires on them? My car is AWD so I was wondering if the half inch more up front would affect anything? There's already a small difference in overall diameter with the stock wheels so I don't think it would matter, but don't want to mess anything up.

It won't matter...
I run square tire setup on staggered wheels (winters). Running square wheel setup with staggered tires won't change anything. You are essentially adding .5" of width on the front wheels. 225/40 works just fine on 8.5" wheels. Overall diameter stays the same.
One thing tho...the stock tires already look a bit stretched. You will see just a bit more of that.

Thanks for the confirmation!
I previously had 225 tires on 8.5 wheels for my winter setup on my previous car so I don't mind the little stretch. I'll get to see if I like the BBS look on the IS for about free so I can't complain!

The stretch will lower to front overall-diameter of the wheel/tire combo as compared to the OEM 8" wheel, but it shouldn't be enough to cause error with the TCS/ABS/VSC system & sensors (but don't quote me as I don't have first hand experience on a Lexus lol).
On my last car, if the over-diameter between the front/back tires are too great, it would mess with the TCS/ABS/DSC & also cruise control systems as it threw the sensors out & caused the gauge cluster to light up like a christmas tree.

That was my concern. But since the diameter is already slightly bigger up front in stock form (637.2mm vs 635.7mm), my guess is that it should still be OK (don't think half an inch more on the wheel will affect the diameter more than 1.5mm)
If running square tires on staggered wheels is OK, the inverse should also be. Worst case scenario, I have some 245/40-18 PSS laying around.

These wheels you posted in your other thread will look great and the offset is good (+38 you mentioned). You'll have a near flush fit (to fender) at front, a little less at rear (may want to consider a 5mm spacer) but still it will be a few mm more outward than stock.
Just in case, test fit the wheel only before removing and mounting the tires in case there is a clearance issue with the brake caliper at front, but I highly doubt it.
Finally, you'll need a hubcentric ring to bring down the hub to 60.1mm for a perfect vibration-free drive.

I did test fit the front and everything is fine (BBS are from my previous Evo X which has even bigger Brembos so no clearance issues there!
60.1 to 67.1 rings are ordered so the wheels should be on the car late June during my week off! I'll see if spacers are required in the back at that time!

^^^ Good stuff. In case you don't know, 5mm spacers is the max safe size to still use the existing lugs since you'll get the min safe 7-8 turns from the nuts vs about 11-12 stock. It's what I've run on my IS and past 2RX for a while without issue. A wider spacer will require the bolt-on version possibly the shaving off the OEM lugs flush if your BBS wheel does not have indentations on the seat surface.
