OP, thanks for an update. I am noticing that on my IS350 and I've only had the car for four months. Usually the wear starts to happen later through more use but not a new car with under 5K miles... Thanks again!

Probably better not to take this as acknowledgement from Lexus or the dealer that the wrinkles are not normal. The decision to replace has probably more to do with maintaining a higher rate of customer satisfaction, avoiding negative feedback and criticism. They probably also factored the total cost of the "transaction" vs dealing with a disgruntled, picky and demanding client should they have ignored the request.

leather is a natural product, and it will vary from vehicle to vehicle. The initial post does seem to have more finish break than one would expect from Lexus. Attached is a photo of mine for reference, although the pseudo-perforation masks it a bit.
I suspect Lexus will replace it to keep customers happy, regardless if they think its a defect or not.
