Default Diamond Kote option for $599? - Dealer detailing my new lexus

Hey guys

I am picking up my first Lexus this Sat
It is a IS350 RWD Black 2015 , red interior here in Vancouver, BC.

My contact from the Lexus dealer asked if i am interested in exterior/interior protection from a company called Diamond Kote. http://www.diamondkote.com/

$399 for exterior
$299 for interior
or $599 for both.

What do you guys think? I am a car maintenance n00b as i was driving a 12 year old Mini for many years and didn't really take care of it other than wash/clean. This is going to be my baby, let me know what you think!! Or other products/forum i should be researching for this type of info.

Thanks

Don't do it. Get opticoat or something similar done for your car. It should run ~$500 and is much better for your exterior. I had it done on my car.

Thanks guys, how soon should i get that type of protection? I could in theory do that a few weeks after as long as the car's washed/clean right?

Yeah shouldn't be a problem , the sooner the better tho , I did mine 3 weeks after purchase and it also helps when washing your car makes it a breeze

Talk to some detailers in your area. Considering the cost of the actual product and the ease of application with similar brands, you can probably get a full detail and coating for the same or less.
Go look at the detailing section of this forum for more information.

I got mine done 2 weeks after purchase. I paid $545 for my opticoat. This includes a full wash and paint correction before application.
